I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

That's a lovely iris, Matt. I'm thinking of planting some myself. I also like the ones that look like blue flags, but I'll probably end up planting whichever ones are the most shade tolerant.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Dana's "Wait Wait" thing

What was this?

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Bah. My brain has decided to mash up the Black Eyed Peas "Where Is The Love?" with the Mna Mna Song. It's just constant "One world, one world" "Mna Mna" "One world, one world" "Mna Mna". Driving me nuts.

Edit: my iPhone thinks the cure is Pet Shop Boys. What have I, what have I, what have I done to deserve this?

Trust my rage

Hi Franny! We love you, too!

Love you too, Franny. Hee.

Home Depot only had pansies. Which I want, but not for the hanging baskets and I wasn't ready to do the buckets yet. Launderating now.

My neighbor had a travel horror story: she ended up in Kenya with her coworker's passport, and her passport with the coworker out in the field in the boonies of Sudan. (Near as they can guess, the passport control going into Sudan gave them back the wrong passports, and neither one of them checked, because hey, of course immigration is going to give you the right passport back, yeah? So for two weeks, neither was carrying the right passport.) This means she was able to exit Sudan and enter Kenya on someone else's passport. And they really don't look that much alike.

Luckily, they were able to get the passports swapped, though $$ had to change hands and the head of immigration personally escorted her coworker into Kenya to make the switch.

!!!!

And I just discovered I got a bit of a sunburn at the farmers' market today. Huh. We were out in the sun for a couple hours, I guess. I need to remember sunscreen again.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Here's the partially re-seeded backyard: [link] Because of the perspective of the picture, you can't tell that the area that's re-seeded is really only about 1/3 of the yard. However, it's about 1/2 of what needed to be re-seeded, so we've got that out of the way.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I just finished last week's project from Hell! I am freeeeeeee.

At least until I get back from Vegas (BABY!) and find out what they want changed.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hey Franny!

I'm at EM's house, as Matilda sits on Emmett's lap and he commits Call of Duty (Wii) mayhem.

We're back from Emmett's first game of the season, and the odd thing was that he played for a team that wasn't his own. At the Juniors level they often have a shortage of players and its not a big deal to borrow a player from another team.

Anyway, our season opener is tomorrow but Emmett's already got a win in the books. He played well in this game, catching the last three innings and getting a big hit and scoring a run. They had to come from behind to win.

Unfortunately, Emmett's regular team won't be nearly as good as these two teams were, so he might not see another win for a while. Matilda had a good time running around in the stands and all the parents who haven't seen her since last July exclaimed over her big girlness.

She had fun feeding sticks to Bella the Nice Dog.
