"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Before my dad died, I talked to one or the other of my parents a few times a month, Dad more than Mom, but they were local. Now that Dad has died, Mom and I talk 3 times a week for an hour or so (well, she talks, I put her on speakerphone and go on about my work day.) Of course, since I hung up on her after she refused to believe that I'd tried to water her plants, she hasn't called.

Trust my rage

I'm glad to hear Dillo's appointment went well and he's doing fine. Seriously, I've been thinking about him all morning.

I talk to my parents a couple of times a week, more when Joe is gone. We talk about the kids a lot but also about my mom's classroom and what I've been up to. I honestly enjoy talking to them though and they are usually the first people I call with any interesting news.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I do think that when you are in more regular contact with someone that it builds on itself and you develop more stuff to talk about.

Yeah, that is 100% true.

Although, I was just talking to the mother of an old friend, and she was saying how the friend had said to her that we always have a great time when we see each other, even though it's only every couple of years. It's especially weird because I wouldn't say we were ever super-close, but man we are just like this now. (You have to picture me making that two finger eye-to-eye gesture.)

brillig

I continue to be envious of people had/have families that are parts of their everyday lives. My sisters and I reach out to each other every now and then, but it just fades away in a fog of "Well, we never really talked to each other when we lived in the same house, how does this work?"

Hubby called his mother regularly, and he calls his sister about once a month. I'm sorry me and mine missed out on the instant friend/ally thing.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I do think that when you are in more regular contact with someone that it builds on itself and you develop more stuff to talk about.

You're also more immediately present in their mind, so the impulse to call/talk/share pops up a lot more regularly.

Pat Robertson may have kicked it off, but nobody can set the bar for assholes like Rush.

Limbaugh: Obama will use Haiti to boost credibility with ‘dark-skinned’

Rush Limbaugh tells America not to donate to Haiti

I believe he also complained that it took longer for Obama to respond to the Underwear Bomber than the Earthquake. I have a hard time understanding how those minds work.

I know I shouldn't pay attention, but how does this dude get sponsors?

I look more rad than Lutheranism

how does this dude get sponsors?

There's a lot of ignorant hateful bigots out there.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I have a hard time understanding how those minds work.

Well, helping people is wrong. People should help themselves. If they were responsible they wouldn't have built those shabby buildings and been so poor. Also those people are black so Obama is only doing it in a transparent bid to bolster his standing with the black vote and the bleeding hearts.

As for the crotch bomber, defending America from its foes is the only important thing that the Federal Government does. Ideally it should do this with very cozy and expensive contracts with the defense industry. He's weak on terrorism.

Now do you understand?

Ann, that's a ferret.

how does this dude get sponsors?

He gets listeners.

Now, how he gets listeners is beyond me.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Sometimes, it really feels like the Josie and the Pussycats movie was a thinly-veiled warning. I'ma start checking people for cat-ear headphones and saying things like, "Rush Limbaugh is the greatest! And he's so thin!"
