Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

On the upside, I was kind of on the fence about washing my Christmas blanket that I've been using on the couch -- it's cotton and poly fill, but said dry clean only -- but now I have to wash it ASAP....

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Holy crap, I didn't know that my cousin was in Haiti herself until Sunday!

Also, why does my grandmother keep calling me? I swear, she calls more now that we see each other every week. I don't actually have that much to say to her! And also, I'm supposably working, so I just didn't answer. At least she left a message, which she often doesn't.

OH no! Poor poor Homer!

I too am up earlier than I'd like. I should go make lunch for myself yet I feel relatively uninspired to do so.

My friend Judy talks to her dad Every. Single. Day. on the phone. Which is amazing and all of that contact, I think, is a result of the fact that Judy's husband died last year and her Dad is in his 90s. I thought, maybe I SHOULD call my mom every day. But what would I say?

Yeah, I think that amount of contact is odd. I know it's not uncommon, but it's just not my way. With my parents, I've generally stuck with the rules we set when I left for college -- talk on the phone Sunday at 7pm, and that's it.

Sad about Teddy Pendergrass. My mom is a huge fan.

My parents and I don't have rules about it. But I called my mom the day before her birthday to let her know we got a box she had sent. I told her that I'd call back the next day, on her birthday and she said, "Don't bother just tell me happy birthday today." But then I pointed out that Noah wanted to sing for her on Skype and she wanted that. She likes talking to Noah more than me.
