Because books.

If it makes you feel any better, they're not being cruel on purpose. To get approval to acquire can sometimes take several meetings, and interested editors waiting for answers from above, too.

I know it's frustrating. But I wouldn't throw in the towel now.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I think it's fine for straight folks to spend time at gay bars unescorted, as long as they don't freak out over being asked to dance or offered a drink by someone of the same gender. Socializing is cool, going on safari to gawk at the exotic fauna and pat yourself on the back over how daring you are isn't.

Yeah, that was always pretty much my thought. I've been to all kinds of bars, and it's pretty much about what people are in the mood for; if I'm hitting a gay bar, it's generally to go dancing or catch a good drag act. Lesbian bars, generally to hang with bi girlfriends. And I have no sympathy for str8 people who go to gay/les bars, and then get het up about about people hitting on them. WTF, dumbass?!

I HAVE been to gay bars in groups who included people who I thought went to gawk, and it made me really uncomfortable and unhappy, and I chose to not repeat that. But I don't give a flying fuck about people's sexuality -- whatevs, dude/ette -- so I don't think I'm a representative str8 girl. Go to a bar to drink and socialize. That's what they're for, no matter the flavor.

Backflung, Aims.

I have a fever of almost 101. Stephen is going to be Daisies Dad tonight. I almost wish I felt well enough to go just to watch.

"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

IME, Allyson, no is faster. Gut it out, if you can. ita has one thing in common with Vinny Chase, who "never wants to be anyone's first. Or anyone's last."

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

That's a shame Scola--he's very convincing. He even got me to make out with him.

umm, I know it's a total pot calling kettle, but that's not that hard (that's what she said!)

I pretty much don't go to straight bars anymore, except with the rugby boys. And that's why I don't have a boyfriend, my two main social groups are rugby players and gay men. And when you're the sister of the large angry black man, boys tend to be a little shy.

Oh, and technically, I have three social groups - the other being my theatre folks. But we end up gay bars more often than not.

One of my favorite gay bars, my local as a matter of fact, has gotten a little douchy lately. We think that it's because it was on the Real World DC because the gay guy was dating someone who worked there. Now, there are an annoying number of annoying straight people. Last week, there was actually a line! For a SPORTS BAR!

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

And I have no sympathy for str8 people who go to gay/les bars, and then get het up about about people hitting on them. WTF, dumbass?!

Seriously. I find it enjoyable when [almost] anyone hits on me. I take it as a compliment even if I'm not interested. [My qualification is for creepy people who give me the creeps. I cannot explain what that means further, but I know it when I see it.]

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I find it enjoyable when [almost] anyone hits on me

Me, I feel guilty.

Ergo: single.

Good, I was thinking, "Buffistas aren't creepy people."
