Dawn: I think a date should be in a real fancy restaurant, then champagne at a night club with a floor show, then ballroom dancing. Joyce: Unfortunately, we're not dating in a movie from the thirties.

'Get It Done'

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Laura, much ~ma for Bobby.

Can I have some ~ma for TCG's step-grandmother? She fell last night and when she got to the hospital they found she has pneumonia. It sounds like she is doing ok, but she is in her 90s.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

~ma for TCG's family.

Oh my god, guys, I am going to New Orleans! (forgive me if this is a zillionth time hearing about it because of FB squee-age.) Smonster linked a while back to Historic Green and it's been on my mind for a while...

Then yesterday I found out I didn't get a job I'd been hoping for, but instead of getting mopey and pissed, I decided it meant that I was able to take a vacation next month and go help rebuild in the Lower Ninth Ward! So... flash to less than 24 hours later, I have registered, gotten a plane ticket, and booked a hotel.

I am so excited about this I don't even know what to do with myself. The opportunity's just been haunting me ever since I became aware of it, and especially on the heels of a couple seriously self-indulgent holidays, I am overjoyed to go and put my time and sweat into a project that needs help and that I believe in. Also, it sounds hella fun. Also, SMONSTER! How is this not the awesomest?

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Nora, that is the coolest thing ever!!! It sounds like so much fun! I'm a bit jealous and wish I could go with you.

Yay, Nora! That's a wonderful thing for you to do with your vacation time.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Nora, how cool!

Laura, I've got my fingers crossed for Bobby.

Considering that we came from a so-called "good" district in Florida with a vast majority of the families being well-to-do, yet they couldn't muster this kind of activity for the kids, while this one is a far more balanced school district, with families from all over the spectrum, you can only imagine how over the moon I am.

Dontcha love the constant affirmation that this move was The Best Idea EVAR? That's so cool!

Well, I just finished the last caffeine I'm allowed to have till about noon tomorrow. I've got a thallium heart test tomorrow because they found unpleasant enzymes in my last blood work. Joy. Do Not Want.

It's better to know what's going on, Connie. (And remind me I said that when my first heart attack/blockage/baboon heart transplant rolls around, please.)

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

So, instead of getting dressed and going to my office to get writing stuff after my interview, I ended up taking a nap. I really don't feel like going out now. Writing can wait one more day, I guess.

(And remind me I said that when my first heart attack/blockage/baboon heart transplant rolls around, please.)

I'm just hoping I'm working from my maternal genes and not my paternal ones. My mom's side creaks along until they keel over in their 80s, whereas my father's side seizes up in their 60s.

Oh Laura- I've got my fingers crossed that tests come back with some answers. ACTIONABLE answers.

Good luck tomorrow, Connie.
