Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Chocolate cake for breakfast. This is why it's good to be a grown-up: you don't need permission.

Stephanie, do you know for certain that the woman is really pregnant? Folks like that (rather, the kind of folks I suspect they are) are likely to make up any story if they think it will get them sympathy and help - meaning, money and a free place to stay. Don't be surprised if they show up on your doorstep with no warning, having some dire emergency such that a nice person like you couldn't possibly turn them away. Don't let them in your house; they'll never leave. Possibly pre-arm yourself with knowledge of some places in the area where people can go and stay for a while, like a hostel or a shelter, and the number of a local cab company. If you give them ANYTHING, they will keep coming back for more.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Skipping to ask some urgent peace and health and clam~ma to both sister and dog.

Both had a very miserable day, and an ugly meeting with a vet.

Trust my rage

Stephanie, do you know for certain that the woman is really pregnant?

Yeah, I've asked myself the same question. She *looks* 3-4 months pregnant, but I'm not sure.

She texted me this morning saying "I'm our of the hospital. Yay! So, baby shower just before Valentine's Day?" I haven't responded but I don't think so.

eta: And Shir, I'm sorry both sis and dog are having such a rough day.

I haven't responded but I don't think so.

I think you're going to be busy. It seems weird (and sort of rude) to me to try and make you commit now to a shower 3 months from now. Unless she's trying to ask you if you'll throw it, in which case it's just plain rude.

~ma for the dog and your sister, Shir.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

Note to self: Do not eat sugar. In particular, do not have a glass of wine followed by a slice of cake when your grandmother takes you out to lunch. Not only is it not great for your diet, but you will sleep all afternoon, wake up too tired to work on your dissertation, and generally waste the day and end up feeling rubbish about your life and crappy body.

Monday, dudes. What's that about?

Stephanie, that's a really odd situation. I think Sparky's suggestion that you're going to be busy is a good one - especially if she's asking you to host (which is how I read the text you posted).

Shir, ~ma for your sister and dog.

Sparky is wise (duh). Plus, who is she expecting at this shower if she has no other friends she could stay with overnight? A shower with just the two of you? Heck no.

Our wings are not tired.

~ma to you and yours, Shir.

Stephanie, I think I would be too busy to text back. I could honestly say I didn't know my plans for 3 days from now much less 3 months from now.

Possibly she's expecting Stephanie to supply the friends, as well.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

OMG I am so upset right now. I think I may have talked about the clusterfuck that is my OB's office here. Long story short, a doctor in the practice resigned suddenly a few months ago, making everything there chaotic and unpleasant. We were looking into changing OBs a few weeks ago, but the front office staff reassured me so I stayed. Well, at Friday's appt. they told me that my insurance was contracted through the doctor that left and the remaining doctor is now out of network. They tell me this 5 FUCKING WEEKS BEFORE MY SCHEDULED C-SECTION! So now we are scrambling trying to figure out what the hell to do. A surgery and several nights hospital stay could break us if we do this out of network. Oh, and I saw that they haven't billed anything since 6/15, meaning that all of my appointments since then are going to be paid at 70%, not 90% as I thought. How is this even legal? How can they not inform patients of this news? Had I known, I would have switched OBs immediately to someone in network.

I called the office this morning and they tell me to find out if the hospital is considered in network. WTF? They don't know this information? I called DW in tears and she is looking into it. I am just so pissed off. I don't think I can go back into that office again. I think I'm going to have to change OBs. My parents just bought their plane tickets based on a 12/21 delivery date. Who the hell knows what it will be now. I'm just so angry and can't stop crying.
