Aims, I hope I didn't come across as insensitive, complaining about my mortgage issues. I mean my complaint more as one of solidarity.
Oh gosh - not at all!! Housing issues are housing issues, no matter what form they come in. Owning is just as lousy with Issues and renting is.
I like 'owning' a house.
I hate it more than I can say.
Renting from not family would probably be a good thing for you, but it wouldn't mean that the same situation might not happen. I don't see any fail here.

I'm renting from a friend, which has pluses and minuses. Pluses - no pet deposit, no raise in rent last year, fairly casual attitude towards the timeliness of my rent payment. Minuses - slow to respond to issues, and sometimes fixes them in her priority order instead of mine. I recognize that kind of thing can happen with any landlord, but the friendship does make it harder to be insistent, especially if you're conflict-avoidant me. And she just got on Town Council, so the former issue is certainly not going to get better.
I did my next task but have been avoiding the one after that. ::sigh:: The idea is to go straight down the list to avoid skipping unpleasant tasks but I kind of can't do that one anyway. I *can* do the next one, so I'm off to break it down.
I just cleaned out the heap of bags. down to one bag of paper bags and one bag of plastic grocery bags.
and I mopped that tiny corner.

Why do I put these jobs off
Generally I'm pretty happy to be renting.
