To me a thyroid problem would at least call for a follow up visit before going on meds.
Nah. I mean, at some point, it'll probably help for TCG to talk to his doctor to get the whole picture/details/ask questions. But if his thyroid levels function is low due to TSH being high (which is indicated by the blood test
t edit
which Andi said better than I did), the only way to get the function up is to take meds. He might as well start them now, and then go talk to his doctor when it's convenient.
It's basically like having a blood test come back showing high cholesterol and the doctor calling in an Rx for Lipitor. He doesn't need to talk to the doctor before starting the meds, unless he has a phobia about medication, in which case he should be talking to the doctor about *that,* at which point he can talk about the thyroid meds, too. So it would all work out.
Short answer: this is not in any way out of the ordinary. It's Christmas week, and it might not be possible for the Dr. to see TCG this week, and it's better for TCG to start the meds now, so that he can start feeling better.
happy baby day !
health ma~~`
mom ma~~~
and there was something else I forgot ma~~~~
Thanks, Teppy. I'm calming down now. They put him on blood pressure meds on his last visit, and they are upping his cholesterol meds too now. I just want my honey to be ok, and I know he hates having to take any meds at all.
That works
but I think it was step ma~~~~ for Erin

My dad takes an ungodly amount of meds, and he loathes it. I think his standard phrase is, "I hate these damn pills!" And what he means is that he hates *needing* to take them. He hates that he has a disease that means he has to take meds for the rest of his life.
And I get that. I take 2 antidepressants and blood pressure meds. I'd rather not need them. I'll probably have to take cholesterol meds sooner rather than later, and I hate that.
But if they keep me healthy, then I figure, well, so what if I'd rather not take them? I'd rather be healthy more than I'd rather not take drugs.
So I totally empathize with TCG, but look at it from the viewpoint of -- feeling better is so much greater than feeling crappy but drug-free.
Vortex: The way I look at it- your mother is playing a game called Let's Make Vortex Feel Guilty. If you refuse to let her get to you- you win!
I just stocked up my weekly pill container and I hate that I have to even use that to keep organized. But I've tried going without and I know my life and health is better with each one.
Can't wait to finish the horse-pill antibiotics though. Dang, those are huge.
9 doses of medication
Hate it . hate that I can't remember them . and the worse, only the allergy ones have an easily observable effect if I don't take it

I feel the same way about prenatal vitamins.
