Angel: Will you just shut up for once?! Illyria: What? Angel: My God, the speechifying. Has it ever occurred to you that now might not be the best time for when-we-were-muck stories?

'Time Bomb'

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Because that's how society works. Whites with whites, blacks with blacks, Asians with Asians, Indians with Indians. "Mixing doesn't work."

Nobody tell Ryan he doesn't work. He's too little and it will freak him out.

Nobody tell the President either.

Always Anti-fascist!

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Ugh, P-C. My response would be pretty much along the lines of "Any shame in this family comes from you -- your bigotry and racism. I thought you were better people."

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Except we didn't, really.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I don't think those bits are in the Haggadah my family uses - there are about fifteen gazillion different versions available for Reform Jews of varying political and religious inclinations.

I remember the latter but not the former. But then we skip and skim. Hi, confirmation bias!

People could justify their racial bias, because that was The Truth (and a woman's place is in a kitchen and all of that).

In the context of the paragraph and what Matt and I were talking about, the OP is talking about about discomfort itself as insufficient justification. One person's discomfort doesn't trump another's rights.

And yes, people justify their discomfort all the time, with various levels of accuracy and veracity. And that is most certainly problematic. See above re: P-C's parents.

I read a bit of Im Tirzu's site, and oh dear.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Indians with Indians.

I read this as it would be ok if you were gay, you could date a baseball player.

That's probably not what they meant, but it's kinda fun to imagine the looks on their faces....

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I have successfully assembled a kitchen cart! One of these: [link] And now, I've got to deal with all the little bits of styrofoam packaging that are all over my living room rug (vacuum is broken -- one more thing I need to buy), and figure out how to fix a clogged toilet. (It's one of the new water-saver ones with a weird-shaped bowl so that it's impossible to get a seal with the plunger, so trying to use the plunger just ends up splashing water everywhere. There's a weird-shaped plunger in the bathroom closet, and I tried that one, but it didn't do anything.)
