Ah, the pitter patter of tiny feet in huge combat boots. Shut up!

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I'm sorry, Steph. My condolences to you and Tim, and his family.

I'm sprry for you loss, Steph, and may you all go forward handling this as well as you have to date, but with less dog poop.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I haven't left yet, partly because the dog pooped in the kitchen while I was in the shower. Fortunately, she didn't sit/sprawl in it, so I only had to scoop up the poops, not clean her up.

I also got water all over the bathroom floor because I managed to not tuck in one part of the shower curtain. Enough water that it necessitated mopping.

So it's a pretty great morning overall. I expect the cow to come falling through the ceiling any time now.

Also, I posted a message to our local friends, and specifically asked them to hold off on calling today, since we'd be at his parents' house and there'd be a lot of chaos. I said texting would be fine, since it's less obtrusive and can be answered whenever.

Special snowflake CALLS within 5 minutes and even said "I know you said not to call, but I'm so upset for you guys!"

Uh. I appreciate the support and emotion (I do, genuinely), but god DAMN, it's called READING COMPREHENSION and the fact that my message didn't have a secret other message encoded into it that said "Except you; you can call."

I'm just glad she called my phone and not his, since I'm not yet at the house.

Good Lord, people. (I didn't even answer; I just let it go to voice mail. I'll text her back later.)

Last post, and I'm out the door. It's supposed to be 100 today. What fresh hell.

The air quality is fucking awful (seriously, it's like, take a respirator before you leave the house, and watch out for the smog monster), and I've been using my inhaler. Which is both ironic and appropriate, I suppose.

I hope today's as easy it can be for you guys, Steph.

I was reading the work rants yesterday thinking ‘gosh, and work’s been going so well for me lately, shouldn’t complain'. AHAHAHAHAH. At half past twelve today I was ‘volunteered’ to give a talk to fifteen interested media types, who may be filming me (?!?!) and taking notes. When is this talk you say? Why, at half two! Why would someone need preparation time for something like this?

Sweet fuckity bollocks.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

{{Teppy and Tim}} You guys have all my sympathy. Standing vigil is hard, but well worth it, I think. I got to do that with my aunt and it made it much easier to let go when we could see how ready to go she was.

All is well that ends in pizza.

My condolences to Teppy and the Boy and family.

It's a few degrees sadder when the good ones go.
