A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Ok, TMI time, so do NOT look if you are squeamish. Has anyone ever had an ingrown pubic hair? I don't shave, and I thought I was just having a rubbing or mosquito bite, but I woke up to this huge boil in the midst of my privates; I mean like perineum near, and it hurt hugely. When I peed and wiped, there was blood and pus. I wigged a little, and then looked at it and drained it. There was quite a lot of pus and dark blood, but it has gone down quite bit. How do I know if it's an ingrown, how do I make sure it doesn't come back, and do I need to see a doctor? I have had , and it was easily yanked and identifiable, and this thing is a whole other monster. Could it be a BOIL? GROSS. How does one tell?

Erin, I've had the very same thing...I think, three times in my life.

Yes, scary and uncomfortable but, in my case, nothing to worry about. Keep it clean and drained and it should heal in about 3 days .

In my case, it was not an ingrown. Just a boil .

The first time, I was 28 and it really freaked me out. The last time was a few years ago and was NBD. I hope yours heals quickly.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I have had that ingrown. I could tell because when I finally got the little sucker out I could see quite an impressive coil of hair. It never came back.

I have a compress on now. We shall see, but OMG it hurt and was just so BIG.

And it's just not easy to really eyeball. Ugh. NOT the way I want to wake up.

Thanks, guys. I had a few moments of OMG LEPER!

Now tagless for your comfort.

Erin, if you have a hand mirror, it's usually easier to see what you're doing.

DH once had to go to the ER for an ingrown hair. He was in college and the pain was too much for him to do it alone. He left it to the professionals.

I've had that once before, and yes, it both freaked me out and hurt and was big, but it healed right up after I took care of it.

Thrive to spite them

Erin I had the same thing happen to me once, it was freaky and scary. It took awhile but I was able to get the hair out as well. It left a dark mark on my skin for awhile too.

I've also had a similar ingrown hair situation on my boob. Unfortunately I am cursed with hairs and when I pluck I tend to get minor ingrown hairs. But once it was really bad, the way you described except it turned out to be two hairs that had ingrown next to each other.
