Erin, I've had the very same thing...I think, three times in my life.
Yes,
scary and uncomfortable but, in my case, nothing to worry about. Keep it clean and drained and it should heal in about 3 days
.
In my case,
it was not an ingrown. Just a boil
.
The first time, I was 28 and it really freaked me out. The last time was a few years ago and was NBD. I hope yours heals quickly.
I have had that ingrown. I could tell because when I finally got the little sucker out I could see quite an impressive coil of hair. It never came back.
I have a compress on now. We shall see, but OMG it hurt and was just so BIG.
And it's just not easy to really eyeball. Ugh. NOT the way I want to wake up.
Thanks, guys. I had a few moments of OMG LEPER!
Erin, if you have a hand mirror, it's usually easier to see what you're doing.
DH once had to go to the ER for an ingrown hair. He was in college and the pain was too much for him to do it alone. He left it to the professionals.
I've had that once before, and yes, it both freaked me out and hurt and was big, but it healed right up after I took care of it.
Full length mirror and a small lamp. TOTES undignified.
I am so glad I am not the only one! Ew, ew, ew.
Yep. I was fairly sure I had
some flesh eating disease or cancer of the YAknow
. Totally freaky and owwy.
Heh. Yeppers. I was all OH DEAR GOD PUNANNY VOLCANO
Erin I had the same thing happen to me once, it was freaky and scary. It took awhile but I was able to get the hair out as well. It left a dark mark on my skin for awhile too.
I've also had a
similar ingrown hair situation on my boob. Unfortunately I am cursed with hairs and when I pluck I tend to get minor ingrown hairs. But once it was really bad, the way you described except it turned out to be two hairs that had ingrown next to each other.
askye, I had one of those, too. It ended up being rather long and I had to use a hot compress to bring it out, but it healed up with no problem afterwards.
