Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Is it a law that the phone always has to ring as soon as the toddler falls asleep?

sj, it's also a law that someone will ring the doorbell or a dog will start barking as soon as an infant falls asleep. Universal truths.

Is totally true! It never fails that as soon as I get Shane down, an ambulance or cop comes down the street with siren blaring. Curses! Of course, that's what we get for living on a busy street...

ETA: Go, Hil!

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

So after not talking to my parents for a couple weeks (and not even being called), I answered the phone yesterday and talked to my dad, and it went okay. This morning I called my mom since they're leaving for a vacation to Boston, and it went okay. It was actually nice to hear their voices when they're not part of traumatic conversations that ruin my day. I'm sure the Issue has not been completely resolved, but we'll see how things go.

Now I have to figure out whether I want to go to India with the family in December. It's been six years since the last time, and this time it'll be more traveling/vacation like it was the first or second time I went, which could be nice.

Our wings are not tired.

Happy Birthday to Zenkitty!

Yay for non-drama phone calls.

P-C, wouldn't this be the "find him a bride in India" trip? I mean, I suspect even if you didn't want it to be your mom would not be dissuaded.

BTW, is girl from okCupid Gujarati, or just other-Indian-which would still be more acceptable to the parents?

The status is NOT quo.

Knock-em-dead ~ma to Hil!

No, we're going for a cousin's wedding.

I mean, I suspect even if you didn't want it to be your mom would not be dissuaded.

But yeah, this is my fear.

Based on her last name, I'm pretty sure she's Gujarati.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I am the worst sitter ever. He fell asleep on the chair in the living room, and I just let him sleep there. But when he woke up he rolled over and hit the floor. He's not hurt, but I feel awful.

not your mom's socks.

Go Hil! Go Defense!

(lines up for the early kick-in-the-pants line for Hil's soon-to-be-former advisor)

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I mean, I suspect even if you didn't want it to be your mom would not be dissuaded.

But yeah, this is my fear.

Going to India sounds awesome as a general concept.

Going to India with your parents, as things currently stand, sounds like a horrific way to eat up vacation time. IN HELL.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

But when he woke up he rolled over and hit the floor. He's not hurt, but I feel awful.

Next time roll up a towel and scootch it in behind to prevent the rolling off. (Learned this the hard way, also.)
