Don't worry, we're sure to spot Faith first. She's like this cleavagy slut-bomb walking around 'Ooh, check me out, I'm wicked-cool, I'm five-by-five.'

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

I'm still trying to get my head around this Helen Thomas thing...it's like "Lady, you were so *close*...you could have walked away a *legend* if you'd just kept your mouth shut for five more minutes. Now it's 'Yeah, she was great...up until that last part. Did you HEAR that shit?! Bat-shit crazy senile old broad, I guess."

Our wings are not tired.

Time for this early rising right coaster to crash.

A quick thank you to this family. I know how much we love Sean and are there for him, because right there with you. It is also a great comfort to me to know I have you there if and when needed. When making gratitude lists, or counting blessings, or giving thanks, you are right there on top.

Sweet dreams.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Glad you're taking care of yourself, Seany. ::smooch::

Helen Thomas could still go with "I knew there was a hidden camera and decided to fuck with him". The quality of that recording is laaaaaaaame.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Sean, yes, please, sound the alarm. A drowning man isn't being selfish to call for help. If you need a boost to your self esteem, look around you. My mother, for all her faults, taught me something very wise: Water seeks its own level. Look at the amazing people who love you, value you, are willing to drop everything to come to you when you are in need - you have amazing friends, therefore there is something amazing in you that calls to them. You are amazing too. I realize that reading that, and trying to think that may make you feel nauseated, that right now maybe you can't believe it, but ... maybe you can give yourself permission to entertain the thought later.

Bwah. e-post with MM.

Helen Thomas is a legend. Speaking her mind didn't change that for me. I'm looking forward to being a bat-shit crazy senile old broad. Yes, I'm still shaking my head and saying, why oh why, but still find her fascinating.

And I really have to go to bed! I get up early.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I think I know various places this came from.

Start with being Lebonese. Given what Israel has done to Lebanon over the years you have a big base of anger building up over the years. Does not justify her point of view, but it is rather like some Jews I grew up with who hate Germans, and would not listen to Wagner or buy VWS or eat bratwurst. If enough of your relatives are killed by another nation, it is possible your anger won't stop with their government. Really not that different from the emotional thinking behind the Israeli blockade of Gaza.

Another thing that may have contributed to this is the whole culture of journalism. There is this whole false objectivity thing where journalists are not supposed to have opinions. But of course people have opinions, so all that means is that the opinions are there but unvoiced. Which means that since the opinions are unvoiced they can sometimes fester and mutate in the dark, because they are never brought into to the open when comparatively small and harmless and properly mocked.

I've seen cases on this board where someone brought out a comparatively mild anti-Semitic comment, or mildly homophobic opinion, without on this board. And they were called out on it and realized they had absorbed bad attitudes without realizing it and corrected themselves. And journalism kind of helps condition against it.

And I'm fine with Thomas being fired for this, and to me it really does not undo all the great work she did before. She did something wrong, apologized and took the consequences. But I'd like to see it applied to Glen Beck and to every journalist or politician who wants to repeal birthright citizenship. Demand apologies from all of them and then fire them regardless of whether they apologize or not.

And because it deserves a separate post - Sean, we all want you around for a long time to come. And please never ever think you are bothering anyone by saying what is on your mind, especially in a case like that.

brillig

First world problem: I want to watch my gay porn videos. However, Hubby is right behind me with my monitor in full view, and he doesn't have my appreciation for gay porn. At all.

Will have to think of a way to get him out of the room with the computer. Or have him go to sleep.
