And I myself will be wearing pink taffeta as chenille would not go with my complexion.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I was just looking at that!

Compassionately intolerant

I learned today that going on a gluten-free diet can cause actual physical withdrawal, because the gluten protein interacts with opioid receptors, and taking that away makes the opioid receptors feel like they aren't getting their morphine any more!

That explains a lot. I was doing really well there, for nearly a year, but slipped back into the alley.

For serious. I've totally fallen off the wagon...but last night a friend made dinner for my (belated) birthday and it was pasta. She hasn't cooked in 20 years and I didn't want to refuse her first effort (it was really good) but...

I slept like a log, 7 hours without waking, totally out of the norm. But today, I feel the nast.

Steph, any tips on detoxing? If there was a pill, I'd take it!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

If I ever found a food that could help me sleep for 7 hours without waking I would be very very happy. But then sleep and I have a somewhat fitful relationship.

That food grows on the pharmacus ambienus bush, Burrell. It is bitter, but sophoric.

None that I know of, beyond drinking a lot of water and eating as healthily as possible (within whatever dietary restrictions you have). I'm guessing it's possible to "taper off" wheat products, which would probably make the withdrawal less severe, but it would last longer.

To be clear, this withdrawal is nothing -- NOTHING -- like the junkie withdrawal I had when I stopped the percocet after my surgery. That was full-on, cold-sweats, no-sleep, crying-jag junkie withdrawal. And this is also not even close to the kind of withdrawal I've had when going off/switching anti-depressants. But I'm having otherwise-unexplainable muscle/joint aches and massive fatigue.

But the gastrointestial symptoms -- notably the massive bloating -- have calmed down (though not totally gone, which I wouldn't expect just yet).

Is that Ambien? I don't think it's a good idea for me to take something like that, not with small kids and a husband who is blessed with the ability to sleep through just about anything.

There might the that. Have you tried valerian capsules? Two washed down with a small sherry sometimes help, but my insomnia is epic, as is my tolerance to meds. Maybe one?
