Phew, Aims! That would have been a huge PITA.
Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
>Aims, seriously?? 5 days before you're supposed to move and they pull this? Ummmm. No. Not unless they want to pay for you and your family to live in a hotel for a week. And pay for the storage for your stuff. And pay for the fee for rescheduling movers at the last minute.
This. Either the woman who can't move out pays, or the real estate agent pays, but as you said, your lease starts on May 1, and unless the lease you signed allows for the previous tenant to stay through/past May 1, then she needs to get out and/or your real estate agent needs to figure out a fix, FAST.
t edit Wow -- you got satisfactory resolution on that faster than I can type! Woo!
Hunormous. If I make it through to June without an ulcer, I will be majorly surprised.
Congratulations on the A- and on successfully dealing with the real estate agent, Aims. What a stress-fest the whole thing's been for you.
I'm getting so drunk after all of this over. Like puking, crying drunk.
The place won't be cleaned, but whatever.
You should ask for the realtor to give you the cleaning deposit, because can be damned sure that they are collecting it, and they shouldn't profit from her mistake and you have to do the cleaning.
If her lease is the same as mine, there isn't one - they are not allowed in Michigan. And landlords can't ding you for not cleaning at the end of the lease either.
Oh, Aims, I am so glad that all worked out. I wish I lived closer. I would totally take you out to get drunk and drive you safely home.
I'll just come to Chicago. You and me and Brenda and whoever else is there.
I'm glad you got that worked out, what a nightmare.
