I can hurt a demon!! That's right. I'm back. And I'm a BLOODY ANIMAL!

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Whew, Laura! Good thing the young men are ok.

Askye, Harvey cooperates really well with the harness and leash, but when I take him out on it, he ends up being more insistent about getting out the door on his own. What we do to discourage cats crowding the door, is to keep a plastic grocery bag hanging from the door knob. We rattle the bag to scare the cats away from the door. For some reason, both the cats are quite spooked by the sound - whether that is because it is similar to a rattlesnake's rattle, or because there were traumatic kittenhood experiences of getting caught in the handles of the bags, I'm not sure. If Dean does not respect the bag rattle, then perhaps a soda can with a few pennies in it would do the trick. The idea is to make the scary noise when the cat is focused on the door and/or window, and comes to associate the scary noise with the door/window, and so wants to avoid it more. This approach can also work with getting on counters and tables, but only works so long as the association is strictly between the noise and the particular spot you want the cat to stay away from. Once the cat figures out that you are making the noise, the jig is up.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Massive brackets and sympathy for Nora, Nora's mom Laura and everyone else I forgot.

But before everything, I wanted to say: Happy Thanksgiving, guys! I'm always excited reading about holidays, especially the ones where everyone gathers, especially when my own favorite holiday is 2 weeks away. I hope it'll be a good, happy holiday for you all. Oh, and try not to kill your families. I know there's a ritual sacrifice, but I'm quite positive it's supposed to be a bird, not a human being. Even if you want to vary just for once.

Nora's Mom's story reminded me of an article/book (I read an section of of this book this week) I thought you all would find interesting. Hell, it's the only interesting thing that came out, so far, from my "Society and Organizations" class. [link] It's about what happening to us and to our society while and because of world wide organizational changes. It's scary, but good to know.

Yikes Zen, feeling any better?

PS- also, my mom just got laid off today. almost 65 years old and she has to go find a new job. Sigh.
Nora! That is crazy timing. Bad boss, no turkey. The day before Thanksgiving? I recall my Grandfather getting fired for no cause months before retirement. This was 30ish years ago, when retirement meant pension. Apparently that was how the company dealt with not wanting to pay out pensions. Much job~ma for your mom.

But we would miss you, omnis!
Ditto! But it's not a thing yet. It's only a possibility. I'm still here.

I'm sitting in tech rehearsals until 10:30 tonight.
I had to sit in tech rehearsal until 11! Plus meeting! Humbug!
Wow am I over this show.
Get in line. I've felt that way for 12 years.

You people are killing me with the food talk. I'm sitting here with yogurt and ginger ale. I need a wife.
:: sits on group W bench with Zen :: Although, I have potato chips and not yogurt, but I do have ginger ale. ---

And since it is Thanksgiving now in my time zone, I would like to say what I am thankful for. I am thankful for all those things I take for granted, which include, but are not limited to:

  • The blessings of Liberty, to live in a society where I am free to move about as I wish, to bitch about the government without fear of retribution, and to vote freely;

  • my health. Thankfully, it is mostly good. Sure it's not perfect, but as long as I avoid the doctor, I will never know what is wrong, and therefore am that much healthier

  • my friends, who watch my back as I watch theirs. Who bust my chops as I bust theirs. And who are there for me, as I am for them.

Happy birthday Daisy Jane!

What holiday is coming up Shir? I should probably know, but I don't.

Got my stuffing made, the turkey butterflied andin its place, the whole thing fit into the fridge, a load of dishes in the dishwasher swish-swish-swishing and a pot of what promises to be rich meaty stock simmering on the stove. Ahhhh.

Considering a glass of wine.

Yay wine, indeed.
