Donating blood is not a hardship for me, phlebotomists love my veins (and did you know in ASL "phlebotomist" is the same as "vampire"?) but I used to go to the bloodmobile when it came by work so I haven't donated since I got fired. I needed the poke, so to speak.

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I needed the poke:: whistles innocently :: (trying to behave!)
I haven't given blood since the phlebotomist poked around my arm so much, my fingers were twitching. Took her what felt like 30 minutes and 4 pokes to find a vein. That's it. No more for me. Sorry.
Okay, see, that's what makes me faint. Just thinking about it.
Thanks, Omnis! Just great.
Are you going to tell horrible birth stories in front of the pregnant people next?
Sorry, I don't remember mine. Mom was happy (I was born real late)

I feel your pain, omnis. I've had that experience.
Zen...turn away! We shall not be daunted.
You know what we have to do now? We have to put on cheerleader uniforms and urge Zen and bonny onwards to social service via bloodletting.
Here, you put yours on first...
Buffista moms! My BFF from high school is a high risk pregnancy, she has diabetes and some other health issues. She was recently admitted to he hospital after several weeks of bed rest. I'm going to surprise visit this weekend and wanted to bring her something. Anyone who's been through this have any suggestions? I'll probably bring some books, magazines, etc., but is there anything else you'd suggest?
Snicker.
The visual of the cool dudes wearing cheerleader uniforms just might get me through this.
Is she there for the duration, Vortex? I'd say something she can do, rather than just read -- does she knit or do crosswords? Maybe one of those geometric design coloring books and some colored pencils? A project she might have at home and have time to work on now, like framing some small photos or even sorting through photos?
