Hoping Erin is having a spectacular wedding day!
Being queer it's even more of a thing...both keep names? Find a new name together? She takes mine? I take hers? (Of course, FIND a girl first...). I like the idea of having the same name since it's more of a "we can has family!" signifier, but...
Yeah, we did not change our last names and had planned on hyphenating them for Shane, but it would have made for a really long last name for him (and one more way for him to stand out in a crowd). So my last name is his middle name and he has DW's last name. I figured since he came out of me, there's no question I'm his Mama, so having DW's last name is a way to let everyone know he's hers, too.
Happy Wedding Day, Erin!!!!
Happiest of Day, Erin! blessings sent your way
Happy happy wedding day, Erin!
Happiest of wedding days, Erin! As someone who had a perfect-for-me wedding three months ago, I wish you a perfect-for-you day.
I already have a hyphen in my last name (the regular Semitic construction to "(son of)-(x)"). Don't think I'd like another. Then again, I'm all anti-marriage (FOR MYSELF. Not for others, who should have a glorious wedding day) at this point, as well.
I feel you.
My parents(either set, as well as with each other) did not make it look good very often.
But I still would, with the right person.
But I'm thirty-six and thinking it's not gonna happen.
The only person who was upset about our mutual name change was the groom's father. When we did it, it was pretty novel and most people said, "neat!".
You never know what's going to happen! I am proof.
I am keeping my name. It never really occured to do otherwise. I've had it for so long. And I have ny initials tattooed on my back. (or, as my 2 year old niece said last night I have "alphabet letters" on my back)
