ok, I'm getting sick of people saying "so? short timers set in yet?" No! There is too much to do. But if y'all keep it up, I might just slack my way through the month.
t /rant
(sorry, 3 people in less than an hour irked me. Working till 2am on Saturday, on a 14 hour day with no real breaks, does not constitute 'slacking')
It's not an effective means of communication, no.
flipping out like a mammal is not how humans say "Stop being so sensitive,"
Sadly, waaaaay too many do, but joke 'em.
Zenkitty nails it:
Yes, I hope you learned something from this, erika. Namely, that guy's a tool.
Congrats omnis. And good luck getting through the next month without a thousand 'senior-itis' jokes.
Things I didn't Post On Facebook -
Hey asshole - there are plenty of people "unable to breed". It's called infertility, both primary and secondary. Shut the fuck up.
Yeah, that's about the point I hit the "hide" button, Aims. I had to do that this past week.
Congratulation, omnis! May the remaining time in Dallas go swiftly and smoothly.
Congrats, omnis!
{{Aims}} and I'm sorry, but I can't think of nothing you're able to write here that won't convince me that you and Joe aren't good parents (and I figure it won't be stuff like "I'm pouring acid on my daughter right now, AIFG!"). People fuck sometimes, yes. But that's what makes them people.
What erika wrote is why I'm worried about going to extra date with a guy that I might not be physically attracted to. People in modern age, and esp. women, are programed to please people. I really suffer and feel for others if I hurt anyone, or can't help them (or, perhaps I'm just more compassionate than others; I tend to think not, because once I've given my point to other "less compassionate" people, they tend to agree with me). And besides the emotional and sometimes physically side effects of my compassion/programing, I also know that I do not need this shit.
Hence, my worries.
Seder. Seder was pretty great, even when I discovered that my second cousins convinced that modernity is Awesome and so's colonialism and there's human rights for all these day and age. 20 minutes later, they agreed with me that there aren't really human rights for all, but didn't want to hear anything about modern slavery. Small accomplishment is still and accomplishment.
However, the part of family fights is now being fulfilled by my sister and parents. Sigh. I escaped to my room.
And it seemed like I pushed my luck. Lou is looking a bit worse, even though he still acts as normal. That gave him an extra doze of painkillers, and possibly a trip to the vet on Wed. (tomorrow is still a holiday).
convinced that modernity is Awesome
What is modernity other than life as we know it? I've always been very fuzzy on what defines Modern, because I've always interpreted it "Not the past." I'm very weak when it comes to philosophy, sociology, and the terms for socio-political trends.
Modernity is what came before post-modernism. So "modernity" implies continual progress, right?
What is modernity other than life as we know it?
Narrow definition: life since 1839.
My cousins definition: the newer, the righter. Capitalism? Saved BILLIONS OF PEOPLES.
My definition of choice: [link]
Modernity is what came before post-modernism
Post-Modern is another one of those terms that makes me twitch, because my hamster brain goes "How you can have something that is post what's happening now?"
I always have trouble accepting that the outside edge of a record moves faster than the inside. My brain has surprisingly primitive areas, and it isn't always content to wave its hand and say "Meh, mystic arts."
