[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Also, askye, as a person who also answers phones, I do have to tell you that people who do not answer phones have no idea how much work it is/is not possible to get done. It is pretty random. Since I am in a university system, I was able to hire a student to back me up on the phone, but I think most people assume that you can somehow concentrate with constant interruptions, an it is really hard.

Shari H wrote stuff.

Like I said, firmly pro-you. All that stuff you wrote was well said. I still profoundly disagree with most of it, but I have a better understanding now of why you believe it, and it makes me more pro-you.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

No wonder they won't let prisoners play D&D.

That POW story is great.

Always Anti-fascist!

That's great. Doesn't change torture being profoundly ineffective, in addition to a moral stain on on our nation. If you're looking to find consensus and peace, why are you bringing this up again? Because nothing says friendly delurk like people with hoods over their heads. Hello?

The effectiveness with regard to KSM is in dispute.

Ericka, I'm agreeing to disagree on "torture". Didn't ask for consensus and peace. Brought it up because people mentioned it in responding to me at first. Hood over their heads? I don't wear one. (Well, I cover my hair, but not with a hood.) KSM in a hood doesn't bother me a bit. And if my once-a-year posts over the years don't count as delurking, see last year's delurk thread from a couple of months ago.

Gud, torture may not be effective (people will do anything to make the pain stop), but putting the fear of hell into one of these alQaeda guys works for me. The Christmas bomber babbled because he was afraid of what would happen to him. When he got Mirandized and realized he was going to a nice warm cell and not the hell-hole he imagined, he stopped talking. Maybe his family convinced him later to talk again, but I want to know what happened to the guys who trained and send him from Yemen. Did we catch them? Can we? Or did they ditch their cell phones and email addresses and move on?

The last I heard the other people in Yemen were being perused. But Yemen is a lot like Afghanistan, there is little government control and the region is largely mountainous and inaccessible. It's another place where it's difficult to find anyone.

I'll add there was a definite mess-up by the Obama administration by not yet having the special high value interrogation unit fully up and running yet. They were too slow in establishing that since announcing it in August.

Ow. Too many joints are hurting at once, and I can't find any way to sit or lie down that doesn't put pressure on something.
