EC! When we first moved to the Bay Area, I caught the train at EC del Norte. Boy, was that a...special...time. I would listen to the crime reports in the morning and recognize the street names where the shootings had been as being on my route to the train station. I can vouch that Sparky's Berkeley apartment was lovely, esp. as it was always filled with awesome book-reading women when I was there. That's my only buffista F2F, sadly. Which reminds me, from ages of posts ago, Kristen, I'd be up to meet for coffee.

Delurking 1: Because we don't always check our e-mail.
(that I still mourn the loss of to this day)
As do I. Still wish I could have just taken it over, somehow.
I went to elementary school with Suhaila Salimpour, the belly dancer.
She would be the aforementioned reason I've been to EC.
Mmmm....thai. Dana and I are meeting at a Thai place tonight!
feels like one of the in crowd now
Thanks to planned Parenthood, it's hard not to read "EC" as "Emergency Contraception" Sorry...
it was always filled with awesome book-reading women
::weeps and weeps for the book club since I've never found one I like here in DC::
And they were just awesome women who happened to read books. Yo.
eta: Speaking of which, Solange, do you have a current email address for our mutual friend D, whose birthday is coming up?
Sparky, are you anywhere near Politics & Prose? They have good book club connections.
Stupid question: why the book thread isn't holding (or maybe it is and I'm way too many posts behind) monthly book club virtual meetings? What am I missing?
(I know, because you only go to the book club to eat good food and meet cute girls/boys).
We tried a separate thread for that, and it didn't work. It got closed a while ago.
In thread the thought was it would be potentially too disruptive/disrupted of/by other discussion.
Although looking at it now in the "Closed Threads" area, it was reopened then closed again for discussion of the last Harry Potter book.
I see: I figured there was a good reason for it.
