Delurking 1: Because we don't always check our e-mail.
Hi, I'm Hil. The sans-serif font on the board makes me think that every "Hi!" is someone typing my name, because I really don't look closely enough when I read. Originally from NYC, mostly grew up in NJ, college in New Orleans, currently in grad school for math in DC.
I like cilantro and serial commas. I do not like olives.
I've been a Buffista since TT. Not sure exactly when my first post was. Sometime in 2000, I'd guess.
Nerd City news
I would subscribe to this newspaper. (Hell, I could be the publisher!)
And on that note, I'm Steph L., wordnerd to the power of 10. Around these parts, I get addressed as "Teppy" (and other variations -- Tep, Tepalina, etc.) probably more often than "Steph" (because, as we demonstrated, there are several Stephs, but only one Teppy).
I found the Buffy thread (back in the day when there was only 1 thread!) at Table Talk some time in the 4th season of Buffy. I lurked for a long time because Table Talk had a rule that you couldn't register if you had only a Webmail address (hotmail, aol, etc.). Well, back then, my company didn't actually have e-mail, and I was only on hotmail, so I couldn't register.
(What a weird rule, as I look back on it.)
When we finally got e-mail at my job, I registered on Table Talk and delurked immediately. And I've been around ever since.
I am pro-serial comma and -olives, anti-cilantro.
Hi all. I'm SolangeK. I've been lurking for so long here, anything other than this delurking thread would have just felt...kinda icky. Maybe it still is, anyway.
I've mostly lurked since at least 1999, back on TT. I used to post more in Mothers Who Think. I slowly drifted away after my first daughter was born in early 2001 (no hope of keeping up with the posts, plus, I was trying to keep my job), but have checked back in off and on since them. Never made it to WX, and I can't remember how I figured out ya'll had moved.
I work in Pasadena and live near there. I know Sparky1 from when we were in Northern CA (waves madly). I don't have enough awesome Buffista-type thinkers in my life these days, so I came back several months ago for a hit, and have successfully gotten myself readdicted. You have no idea how happy it made me to come back and see all ya'lls from way back when are still here!
Hi, I'm Sheryl. Here, as in many places, I appear to be the only one. (or at least the only one with that spelling)
I've been hanging around the Buffistas since the TT days. I post regularly in Natter and mainly lurk in other threads, like Procedurals, Music and Movies.
I live in Maryland with my husband and two cats. I work for the government doing research. Ok, part of the time I'm doing research and part of the time I'm doing lab manager stuff.
I'm a filker and attend a lot of conventions.
Hi, I'm dcp. I used to be a champion lurker -- I first came across Buffista posts at WorldCrossing, but didn't visit often because the site worked sooooooo slowly on my dial-up connection. Buffistas.org was (and is) such an amazing improvement! I almost de-lurked after the first few episodes of
Firefly,
because I started to think I might have something to say, but then I read that the show had been cancelled. I almost delurked mid-way through Buffy season 7, because I liked the first half and started to think I might have something to say, but then I disliked most of the second half of the season and de-lurking just to make negative comments struck me as rude. I finally registered on the board and de-lurked in March of 2004 in Minearverse when Tim called out the lurkers to show some support for
Wonderfalls.
Sorry it wasn't enough, Tim.
I chose my initials for my board name because there were already enough Davids posting that they had to use nicknames to tell them apart. Lower case because I'm lazy.
I still don't have much to say and I don't post often, but I stop by the board most days and I think of myself as a regular here. I enjoy the watch-n-posts for various shows, and I'll usually pipe up when the conversation turns to aviation, kites, astronomy, photography, computers, genealogy, or the Indian sub-continent.
I've been to the F2Fs at Madison and Seattle, and had a grand time at both.
I live near Kansas City, Missouri.
I'm a filker and attend a lot of conventions.
I don't think I knew that! I have a friend who is also a filker and attends a lot of conventions.
P-C,
Oh, who? (I know Seanan, if that's who you're referring to)
I tend to listen more than anything else, but listeners are part of the filk community too.
Oh, who? (I know Seanan, if that's who you're referring to)
That's who!
I thought it might be....
