Sometimes I miss having powers... Oh. Oh! I know what this is! This is peer pressure! Any second now you're gonna make me smoke tobacco and--and have drugs!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

His own private army, like the SS or something. Because that's what he's up to with some volunteer service organization thing he's pushing.

Good lord, that's Emmett's idea of heaven.

Though I have moved him towards the joy of Salty Snacks and treats.

Yesterday at the movies (HP:HBP in IMAX) at the Metreon we went to the odd little farmer's market they've installed on the ground floor where they've got all this space available due to failed shops. But they have some super delicious little food stands and now we're both hooked on the empanada shop. We're worried it's going go away. They have a dessert empanada too with bananas and dulce de leche.

Man, reading about the 9-12 stuff is saddening. So much anger about health care reform without anything about specific policy that is making people mad. I can think of a couple of upsetting parts, but the outrage seems to just be over doing anything. Something has to be done and there seems to be no serious policy debate at all, just anger.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Obama's "National Security Force" is a Glenn Beck rumor. A Bogeyman to scare the Right.

The National Security Force came from a campaign speech in which he had the lines.

"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

There is no policy about it, just that line and it was probably a flub.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Wow, I just got the nicest email from a coworker. I wish I could just forward it along with my resume when I'm applying for jobs....

I always save those, Jesse. They're good for two things: a pick me up when things are going badly, and for reference when filling out those stupid evaluation forms every damned year.

I have a civilian national security force... in my pants!

you might want to see a Dr. about that.

I continue to be in a hateful mood. To get things done so mac can start the new afterschool on Wed (the goal was to ease him into things, get settled in school first.) I have:

called Dr. office for hours to pick up copy of immunization info
filled out and copied registration and emergency info cards called afterschool office for clarification on 2 points
called babysitter about Friday availability b/c my dad now may leave as soon as Fri. morning
called YMCA about coverage for halfdays and school vacations b/c new afterschool does not provide coverage

To do one thing takes a million steps.

I should say the context of the speech was community service, so it really wasn't scary in context, but it was a boneheaded way of putting things. For every Obama gaff there is a conspiracy.
