This girl at school? She told me that gelatin is made from ground-up cow's feet and that every time you eat Jell-O there's some cow out there limping around without any feet. But I told her that I'm sure the cow is dead before they cut its feet off, right?

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Yeah, I'm not concerned for myself - or for Jilli, we're healthy. It's just the REACTION is startling. I have friends who have immediately gone to the hospital upon hearing about this.

Yeah, watching the ZOMG SWINE FLU! DEEEAAAATH! reaction through LJ/FB/Twitter has been kind of amusing. In a "you people need to calm down" sort of way.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

IcompletelyON, see Sen. Al Franken draw a map of the US freehand! (Love the music and speeded-up tempo.)

I remember him doing it on SNL during some election -- could it be 88? Impressive!

Now tagless for your comfort.

I have made the new A/V receiver my bitch. We have audio and video. Now if I can get the tuner to work, we'll be golden.

Take that, Geek Squad!

Woe to the fucking wicked.

draw a map of the US freehand!

I'm not sure if it says more about me or the parties I attend that this sounds like a pretty neat party trick.

Jilli, Abby has a new nightshirt and according to her, "I think Miss Jilli would really like it!"

Man, my optometrist is cute.

I hadn't realized that Oprah was filming on the street between the Wrigley Building and Tribune Tower. I had to go in the back and beg security to let me through, and I passed by some green rooms on my way to Pearle Vision.

So far, I've seen the swine-flu-thing at PAX referred to as paxpox and hamthrax (I'm not sure, but I think it's HAMSTER anthrax...but these are Wizards of the Coast folk, so your guess is as good as mine).

I like hamthrax. It could be cute, or yummy!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

but don't worry unduly about something that's not very severe, even if much talked about

according to my sister the internist, the main concern with swine flu is that in most cases it has presented with cold-like symptoms rather than flu-like, but there are still some who will develop the very severe, life-threatening symptoms. So her advice is treat colds like they might be the flu and stay home if sick.

Which brings me to my current connundrum. Son developed a fever yesterday. Today I have a bit of a sore throat. Bother.

If I'd left work earlier, I would have run into the Black Eyed Peas in the hallway.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

If I'd left work earlier, I would have run into the Black Eyed Peas in the hallway.

You could've complimented her lady lumps. Or possibly asked if she's considered a Depends endorsement deal.
