I just called Comcast. They're coming in on Sunday to replace my dvr (there's a glitch that has it sometimes not recording something if certain things happen in conjunction, which has happened three separate times in the past week and pissed me off), and it occurred to me to see how much it would cost if they were to also put in a cable connection into my bedroom and add a second box for the tv in there. It's only another $26 for the installation and $5/mo. for the second box, but the guy coming in this week is booked so he won't have time--I'll have to wait until next Sunday for the installation, which is fine with me.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I called Comcast a month ago cause my rate jumped up. The gal I spoke with gave me back my discounted rate and said that it is good for 6 months, but honestly if I call back at the end of the 6 months they can keep renewing the discount. I just get internet cause my cable is part of my rent.
Nope. Now she is wanting to transfer me to sales; did that happen to you?
No! Ha.
[ETA: I love that my "analyst" is named Zildjian]
Awesome. I've always gotten "American" names like Richard and Becky and whatnot.

Yeah, I've found that it sometimes has an issue with adjacent shows on different channels; even if you make sure there aren't too many overlapping minutes, it will drop one of them (or claim it's recording one but won't actually do it).

I wonder how many hundreds of dollars I've wasted by not checking for offers every six months.

Yup, me too. And it BUGS me to no end.
WE KNOW THOSE AREN'T YOUR NAMES, GUYS.
I'm on Charter, not Comcast, but my experience was that the Sales people had a lot more power.
Guys, I'm totally working it!!
Nanita(Fri Aug 21 18:37:19 PDT 2009)>I'm fine, thanks. Here because I am thinking of switching to an AT&T package that gives me internet, digital cable (inc. HBO and Showtime)$79.99 for 12 months.
Christyl(Fri Aug 21 21:41:51 PDT 2009)>Nanita, let me check if I can get a package for you, similar to that one.
Go Christyl!
I wacked the shit out of my pinky toe earlier, and it still hurts. Even if it's broken, there's nothing I could do, right?
Right, Jesse. Pain meds are your friend (and sorry about your pinky!).
