If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Okay, so, to cap off my day. And Ginger and Cass may be the only ones to appreciate this.

(The Australian SOS, which, by the way, had nothing to do with ABBA, turned into a big fucking deal when the person I stepped in for took offense at..I'm not sure, exactly, except he thought "I haven't heard back from him, is there anything you can do" was a total slam and resulted in [literally] 47 emails tonight.)

But that wasn't the end. I was just closing the kitchen window. And I banged into the magnetic knife rack. Sharpest chef knife, meet big toe.

Just started watching DS and realized who he's interviewing. I have no interest in hearing the start of her sentences let alone the end.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Oh brenda. what a bad ending to a lousy day for you.

I'm trying to wind-down, but not successfully. I know I have a shitload of stuff to do (write a quiz on genesis and exodus and new testament as well as another quiz on illiad and odyssey) but I'm uninspired.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

mac is crashed out on my bed.

I think we've done what we can for the moment. We'll see people Sat and Tues and I'll work to get some additional introductory meetings on my own (it's psychiatrist search 09). Dad will be here within the hour and tomorrow morning we will work out a plan for the day. mac will start on some meds tomorrow night. we will work one day at a time and look further ahead maybe after a few days of non-emergencies.

thank you all for listening and supporting. I may have a request for research assistance tomorrow.

Many good thought to you. All you can do, one day as it is. Hope R can help, but she's had a wringer of a day too.

meara - Aug 20, 2009 6:40:17 pm PDT #4804 of 30001

Oof, msbelle. Good luck with everything.

Brenda, that IS quite the day-capper. I hope not bad enough to need stitches or anything?

I just got home from Fresno and ended up sitting in my car in the garage for a few minutes listening to Joel Berg talk about hunger on NPR. It was fascinating and oddly hopeful at the same time. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Because books.

I'm so glad to hear that, msbelle. I've been thinking about you guys all day.

Tiny but deep - I don't think stitches would help anything. But the bleeding is starting to slow.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Yikes, brenda, what a finish to your day.

msbelle, I'm glad things are moving (every so slightly) out of crisis mode.

ION, there's a dispute about the gender of the female winner of a track and field event.

The illuminating part is that it's an issue that's recurred multiple times during the history of track and field.

meara - Aug 20, 2009 7:20:34 pm PDT #4808 of 30001

Not just track and field, David. And there's a common issue of androgen insensitivity syndrome that can happen, or several other chromosomal things, that have happened, now that they can do that sort of testing. They've had to make up rules about who "counts". It's sort of ridiculous, but...at the same time, shows how ridiculous the whole binary sex system is.

According to this article in Slate eight women athletes tested as having Y chromosomes at the Atlanta Olympics.
