Have people had good luck booking hotels on Priceline? The name-your-price feature seems vaguely magical, but I don't know what sort of horrors may await me.

I have -- it's always a chain hotel, so always decent, and cheap. If you don't care where you stay so much, I definitely recommend it.

I've had great luck with Priceline for hotels and car rentals.
I always start low in price and high in stars and make sure I have time to play with it. You have to wait a certain amount of time between attempts unless you are willing to drop your stars or change locations.
