I've heard it as an argument for vegetarianism. "Dominion" means we're supposed to protect them, not exploit them. The same passage lists which plants or parts of plants should be eaten by people, and which by animals, and make no mention of people eating animals.
Actually, a former Bush advisor wrote a book called Dominion which was an argument for animal rights and vegetarianism.

Whenever I am hating people, I need to watch PS22 chorus on youtube. Those kids are so lucky to have that teacher. And I say that as someone who can't sing.
