I never had winter tyres in Detroit. Was I supposed to? I'm a bad car owner anyway. Wouldn't surprise me.

I have a Mustang with rear wheel drive. I need all the help I can get to not slide around like I did last winter. I am also going to get some cinder blocks to put in the trunk.
ION, STBX is in California for work and just called me asking for directions. WTF?
How about the chains, tow strap, and jumper cables?
We actually don't have snow tires. Even though the seasons up here have been categorized as: near winter, winter, near winter, and construction.
I'm coming to realize I'll probably have to buy snow boots for MA. On the bright side, I'll be able to wear my too-high shoes at work, if I'm not commuting in them.
In other news, apparently my job is going to pay me my full salary as a consultant, which is sweet. And I couldn't get my boss to say they are expecting me to work full time, just that I'll be expected to be available at any time. Yeah, that works.
Thanks! I'm rather pleased.
I suspect Denver is hillier than Detroit.
I'm used to front wheel drive and feel all righteous when I'm not going sideways up a hill in icy conditions. But then I remember, I just drive an econocar, not like I buy it for what kinda drive it has.

Last year was the first time I ever actually bought snowboots (despite living my entire life in NY, the midwest, and fucking Montreal) and it was a revelation. Get some good, comfy, warm boots and you will just not believe how much better life is. Embrace the boots!
(And especially nowadays, when not a lot is done on paper? The largest drawers in my file cabinets are entirely filled with shoes. Which means my shoes last longer, I can wear shoes I wouldn't necessarily want to have on all day or for the walk to/from the train, I don't have to think about them when I'm rushing out the door at work, and if they get un-comfy or my mood changes or my feet start hurting I can always change. Win.)

Yeah, I guess.... I don't remember what I did in high school, winter shoe-wise, but I'm sure it was ridiculous. (I also left the house with wet hair every day.) But that was the last time I really lived with a lot of snow!

Oh, I do. Black flats, no socks, all fucking winter. Because we were Just That Cool. Seriously, WTF?

Nowadays, people who live where there's snow in winter usually have all-season tires. I think snow tires are mostly used where there's always snow - you don't see as many people putting on snow tires for the winter and regular tires for the summer.
ION, have I raved about Gratuitious Space Battles here? I did in the gaming thread, to much indifference. But it's fun!
