Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Get some good, comfy, warm boots and you will just not believe how much better life is. Embrace the boots!

Yeah, I guess.... I don't remember what I did in high school, winter shoe-wise, but I'm sure it was ridiculous. (I also left the house with wet hair every day.) But that was the last time I really lived with a lot of snow!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Oh, I do. Black flats, no socks, all fucking winter. Because we were Just That Cool. Seriously, WTF?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I never had winter tyres in Detroit. Was I supposed to?

Nowadays, people who live where there's snow in winter usually have all-season tires. I think snow tires are mostly used where there's always snow - you don't see as many people putting on snow tires for the winter and regular tires for the summer.

ION, have I raved about Gratuitious Space Battles here? I did in the gaming thread, to much indifference. But it's fun!

That sounds about right. I'm pretty sure the one day I actually put on boots was the day we actually had a snow day but I had missed the announcement....

Now tagless for your comfort.

Yup. Me, too.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Black flats, no socks, all fucking winter. Because we were Just That Cool. Seriously, WTF?

In Montreal? Seriously? But the slush came up past your ankles, not to mention the snowdrifts. I can't even imagine. I hate wet shod feet with a passion, warm or cold. Cold just makes it umpteen worse.

When I was in our Lutheran grade school, some of us had to dress up as shepherds and go to some guy's farm to get pictures taken that would be used in the Christmas service. I remember we had to stand around for what seemed like hours - my feet got quite cold and wet. I remember my cold feet distinctly to this day. Huh, maybe that's why I became an atheist.

So, in summary, don't ignore the cold feet!

No, that was high school. Which wasn't really all that much different, but by the time I was in Montreal I was at least wearing socks and actual shoes in the wintertime.

I need to get kick on shoes simply for my walk to the pool. How lame is that? I've got lots of kick ons, but no full coverage ones. And when it is cold and raining or snowing, I'll want that.

Speaking of, tonight was rough in the pool, even though it was baby night (baby acclimating classes. They always grin at me and splash as I go past and that puts me in a good mood.) Everything was off until the last few laps. Figures. But still got in 40 minutes.
