Is this a Christian nation or not, people?!?

Full Text Of Newsmax Column Suggesting Military Coup Against Obama
Here is the full text of John L. Perry's column on Newsmax which suggests that a military coup to "resolve the Obama problem" is becoming more possible and is not "unrealistic." Perry also writes that a coup, while not "ideal," may be preferable to "Obama's radical ideal" -- and would "restore and defend the Constitution." Newsmax has since removed the column from its website.
I'm not familiar with Newsmax - how mainstream are they?
Mainstream--maybe in pervasiveness, but not a major operation. Biased--oh, hell yeah.
We have their magazine front and center at the B&N, right next to Time and Newsweek, and beside the conservative mags.
A quick glance at their front page says "right-wing crackpot" to me - a big splashy Glen Beck promo, and featured blogs by Dr Laura and Rush Limbaugh's brother.
Newsmax thinks it is the RW Media Matters. It is chock-full of truthiness and Keith Olbermann diva stories.
Meanwhile, CNN is trying to take the NYT's "Women's Issues: Who Needs Relevance?" crown away with their stunning expose on Why Women Have Sex:
What makes a woman want to have sex? Is it physical attraction? Love? Loneliness? Jealousy? Boredom? Painful menstrual cramps?
It turns out that woman have sex for all of these reasons and more, and that their choices are not arbitrary; there may be evolutionary explanations at work.
ZOMG! It's almost as if women are PEOPLE!!! With AGENCY!!!
Buss said he found it surprising how dramatically and variably sexual experience seemed to influence women's feelings of self-esteem.
"Some sexual experiences that women in our study reported just had devastating effects and long-lasting negative effects on their feelings of self-worth," he said. "But then for others, their sexual experiences provided the soaring height of euphoria and made them feel alive and vibrant."
Hold the phone - SOMETIMES SEX IS GOOD AND OTHER TIMES IT IS NOT, DEPENDING ON THE CIRCUMSTANCES. I cannot wait to see the groundbreaking scientific research behind this momentous discovery. Truly, this deserves a Nobel Prize.
Debet, I can see where the intersection between the play and the current news might be. I think the play is really brilliant and extremely funny. And it's a good play because it is sitting with me and forcing me to think about it. But every character minus maybe 1 which was a blank slate and maybe another is just so unlikeable, so ugh.
I'm pretty sure, I wouldn't see it again. But I can't stop mulling it over.
I've known at least one military person to advocate a military coup (to put Bush in office) as the solution to the 2000 election mess. This was after he advocated a military coup to make Ross Perot president in 1992. So the idea that some military personnel would support a military coup against Obama doesn't surprise me. (Note: No attempts to define "some" here. It may be a handful of crackpots, it may be more, I won't offer an opinion.)
But that Newsmax essay, as reprinted, goes well beyond saying, "A military coup is possible," and actually advocates such a thing.
Kat, given how long it is, seeing it again would be a heck of an investment. There's definitely a lot of unlikability to go around, although, for most of the characters, it was a realistic unlikability, IMO. I know people who would make many of those choices.
