Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Wow ... that's a good person to have on your side ... and adding more brains (SPICY brains) to the FitzSimmons mix can't hurt. Plus - for her - extra aggravating her ex.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

There's someone on IO9 that keeps calling me out, with an aura of dismissiveness and superiority, for wanting fight scenes to be convincing. He's not convinced acting aggressive is part of acting, it's just time killing in between the important storybuilding and communication--talkie talkie the wordie wordies.

He doesn't seem to appreciate that I think if you're acting like a world-ranked cellist, it's more than just talking. So is playing a surgeon.

Thing is, I'd think it's easier to tell when someone is intimidating and scary, and then there's another level of peeling off "actually, that strike doesn't work against someone that tall" that requires expertise I think I only gained by caring and paying attention and THEN by doing the martial arts.

Sensing threat isn't rocket science.

But the real ha ha point is that he thinks fighting is just reflexive and anyone can do it well enough. Then why the fuck would I be complaining? Also, does he think, say, Carano can't snap his neck on her way to the deli counter?

Anyway, long way short--Adrianne would have made a great TV Wonder Woman with a decent script (that leaked stuff doesn't fit tonally with any of the other DC properties, unless it was meant to be vapid enough to balance the grit of Gotham. Which isn't all that gritty.

To bring it on topic, I'm glad Marvel got her.

And JAR is totally one of ours, BTW.

Oh, lord. This sounds like that particular kind of pretentious where everything that isn't sufficiently intellecshul is low-class and inferior.

And JAR is totally one of ours, BTW

Totally!

brillig

So Skye's dad is a doctor to the underground. He can't slaughter all his patients, otherwise no one would go to him. Did he slaughter the ones he had because Raina upset him? I felt kind of sorry for him as he watched Coulson comfort Skye. Do people who are more familiar with the comics recognize who/what he is?

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I thought he killed them because they'd seen and heard his conversation with Raina.

(I am totally ignorant of both comics and movies ... so I kind of nod my head and wait for the Buffistas to get excited about the connections.)

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

I've seen some sites talking about him being the Marvel version of Mr Hyde, but I think they're concentrating WAY too hard on describing his anger issues as "Hulk-like".

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Christ, man, Reed Diamond and Kyle MacLachlan are TERRIFYING together.

Yes, they are. Love it.

I thought Skye's dad killed those guys because they irritated him, and he was in a bad mood from Raina. I don't get the impression he needs much in the way of a reason, as such.

I did not recognize Adrianne Palicki at all! I mean, I thought she looked vaguely familiar enough that I was gonna go look her up if y'all hadn't clued me in, but still.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I've seen some sites talking about him being the Marvel version of Mr Hyde

You mean the MCU version? Mr. Hyde is a Marvel villain. I could see that, though, given his portrayal in this episode, like he's fighting an inner monster, a struggle with a dual personality.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

But the real ha ha point is that he thinks fighting is just reflexive and anyone can do it well enough.

So the only fighting he's done has presumably involved the reflexes of his thumb on the video game controller?
