I would think they have to pick it up, it's a perfect vehicle for planting things that can be built off of in future movies.
Jossverse 1: Emotional Resonance & Rocket Launchers
TV, movies, web media--this thread is the home for any Joss projects that don't already have their own threads, such as Dr. Horrible.
I guess this episode definitely disproved the speculation that Simmons might be an unrevealed Hydra mole, if Garrett gave the kill order for both her and Fitz and Ward was willing to jettison them both.

Not really; Garrett was totally willing to let Ward die in the last episode. (Yes, he implied that he gave the order because he "knew" Skye wouldn't let it happen, but -- come on. He would have totally sacrificed Ward for the plan.) So Simmons could still be Hydra. I don't think she is, but she has been acting really oddly.
But would Simmons have kept cover even when being consigned to watery doom (yeah, right) by her superiors?
Like I said above, I don't think she is Hydra, so I can't really answer that question. I was just saying that *if* she were Hydra, Garrett has shown he has no problem killing other Hydra agents if it serves his endgame.
That poor dog. When Garrett came back (before I realized it was so much later), I thought "Ward killed the dog and ate it." Then when Garrett started shooting things, I thought "He's going to shoot the dog." But no, there was yet another possible death for the dog.
Bill Paxton is just not a good actor. I'm sorry, but I said it.

Oh, I am totally in that corner.
Me too.
He plays the same character, which sometimes works, but not so much in this case.
I kind of love Garrett. He's so cheerfully evil.
He's like Ron Swanson with no moral compass. Or a moral compass with the polarity reversed.
I love the file transfer protocol. LOVE!
I also love that Ward was Hydra before he was Shield (although not quite as much). I will not be pleased if he does get redeemed. Unless they really really surprise me and totally win me over, I suppose. But even if that happens I think I will resent it. If it happens which I hope it does not.
I hoped I was wrong, but when I was not, I broke up with the show. Honestly. It was cheap, unnecessary emo-wringing and, frankly, working with abused dogs, like I have, I don't need to see the audience being schooled in how to prove you are tough by killing a loyal creature.
What did I miss? It looked to me like Ward let the dog go.
