I didn't get home till the after credits scene, dammit. Apparently Ward was brainwashed?
Jossverse 1: Emotional Resonance & Rocket Launchers
TV, movies, web media--this thread is the home for any Joss projects that don't already have their own threads, such as Dr. Horrible.
I don't think so. He got recruited out of juvie by Garrett, who, as you know Bob, is evil, and while he seems to be not 100% on board with Garrett's evil plan, he still seems to be there of his own free will, not brainwashing.
I will be PISSED if the show redeems him.
And I thought that this flashbacky episode was supposed to show us why Ward "owes Garrett everything" (that might not be an exact quote, but he said something like it to Raina a few episodes back). But I seriously didn't get that from the flashbacks.
Also? I am NOT okay about the dog.
I would watch Melinda May wear fake glasses and beat people up all day.

I concur! Can we get May's flashback story next week?
In conclusion, Dear Show, Stop Trying To Make Ward Happen. He was briefly interesting when he revealed that he was evil, now he's back to boring and irritating.
Comic-type people, want to fill us in on who Skye's parents are? Was that a reference to a thing?
... they hurt a dog? Not on!
I thought Skye was unique to the show.

No idea. I don't think she's in the comics, and don't think a similar character/story was in the comics.
Didn't Raina imply that she also wasn't totally human/normal/whatever? She said something like "Skye and I have similarities on the inside" when she was looking at the hard drive's data on Skye.
I kind of love Garrett. He's so cheerfully evil.

Yeah, definitely aliens, or alien-hybrids.
They come from warring factions on the planet of Winsome Big-Eyed Brunettes. Syke's parents were warriors of clan Just Say What You Mean, Goddamnit, while Raina's people hail from the Kingdom of Oblique Referrals.
Are you trying to kill me? I was eating ice cream.
Are you trying to kill me? I was eating ice cream.
I second this, as I was eating ice cream as well.
Rats, I lost track of time grading homework and missed the beginning up until they were opening the Case of OldTimey Spy Funtimes. (Coulson's nerd glee! so adorable!) Did I miss anything interesting?
Yes, I was done with Ward so very long ago. Maybe next episode, Fitz will lose it and push him out of the plane without a parachute.
...then again, this being a comics universe, that would just mean a bizarre resurrection. Um.
Skye is so much more tolerable when she's far, far away from Ward. It's kind of amazing.
Young Ward was no more interesting than old Ward. And yeah, if that was supposed to make Ward more sympathetic, it totally didn't work.
I just would like a show about May and Coulson traveling around the world, kicking ass and taking names. They can bring Tripp along, too, because he's pretty and he has fun toys.
