Joss is co-writing the SHIELD pilot. Is it confirmed that he'll be writing regularly for it? Or is he just the puppet master?
Jossverse 1: Emotional Resonance & Rocket Launchers
TV, movies, web media--this thread is the home for any Joss projects that don't already have their own threads, such as Dr. Horrible.
Deadline reports that Whedon and his Dollhouse and Dr. Horrible collaborators/family members Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen are set to start immediately on a pilot script that Whedon may direct, provided he can find time in his busy schedule of making Disney/Marvel all the big-screen money.
According to an interview he gave to Variety, Whedon's involvement with the series thereafter may be somewhat limited, with Jed and Tancharoen serving as official showrunners alongside former Angel showrunner Jeffrey Bell.
Hmm. That makes me think it's better suited for Boxed Set than here, then.
I dunno, ita, I suspect he'll be down as executive producer, though. Even if he's not regularly writing for it, it's being sold as a Joss Whedon project, not a Jed Whedon/Maurissa Tancharoen project.
It looks like Joss may be moving into J.J. Abrams territory now, where he gets his friends/colleagues shows. Wonder if we'll get more shows that are "From Executive Producer Joss Whedon" even though he's not involved in the day-to-day.

I'd much prefer to discuss it here. It'll get lost in Box Set and this thread is sitting here specifically to deal with Joss projects. So even if he's not writing every episode I think this comes under that purview.
Can we quietly change the thread title to Whedonverse and make everyone who wasn't paying attention think they've shifted to a slightly alternate reality? Because it's (even) easier to defend as a Whedon project than a Joss project.
Does this mean that if Tim's brother starts writing we discuss his shows in Minearverse?
If Joss isn't working on the show, I don't know why it counts. "Down as executive producer" has nil consistent meaning.
David, why would it get lost in Boxed Set? Because no one wants to talk about it?
Then my whole point is moot.
I don't know, if he's the driving force behind creating the show, I'd say it's a Joss show whether he is writing or directing episodes regularly. I'm not sure if that premise is true, though.

You're right about that, except I think we can rule out the possibility that Joss would be XP because he co-funded its production. I think it's more likely to be: (1) co-writes the pilot; (2) helps develop the overarching themes/storylines of the show; (3) helps develop the characters; (4) once in a while steps back in to advise on/polish a script or direct an episode; (4) sits in on the writers' room when the season arc is being broken. That's the sort of thing I see him doing.
He's going to be involved at a high level but not showrunner, is my take. I think that's sufficient to keep it here in Jossverse. With his many projects, I don't think we're going to see him as showrunner on anything anytime soon, frankly: he's too in demand to devote all his time to one project now.
