'The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco'

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Hey, I'm pretty sure Dollhouse passes the Bechdel test! Go female empowerment!

(uhh, insert all the sarcasticons you need--I actually liked the show)

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Was I the only one who spent most of Iron Man 2 thinking that the government would be right to step in and prevent a boozy, reckless weapons manufacturer who behaves like a snotty preteen with ADD from flying around in his own personal armored suit with WMD capability? I mean, not necessarily that it should be able to take over ownership of the Iron Man tech full stop, but definitely that it shouldn't be up to a private citizen to determine the use of it according to his whims ?

There is the contention to be made that all on his lonesome he'd managed to enforce some sort of world peace, and was getting zero credit for it.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Parks and Rec probably passes the test. I'm betting 30 Rock doesn't, oddly enough.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Really? I think Liz and Jenna have plenty of conversations that aren't about men. They talk about their moms and their past friendship adventures and the show and whatnot. Even Liz and Cerie can pass it, I think.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

The Miss Marple show I'm watching on Masterpiece does!

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

That's because Miss Marple is da bomb!

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

The Office definitely doesn't.

Unless the documentarian is a woman.

Well, I suppose there's still no conversation, per se, there.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hannah Montana passes the Bechdel test even though it's a dopey show. So did Zoe 101 (on Nick).

The Tween shows often have that covered: Sonny with a Chance; Wizards of Waverly Place, True Jackson (black girl works at a fashion mag etc.)
