I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

Not even Helen Mirren?

she's no Bill Nighy.

Always Anti-fascist!

Not David Simon, though(Not that he's there anymore, but...) My main point is, that every time I've seen him on television, he looks like he came straight there from a mugging. That he was the victim of. I love the man's work, but I still want to say "Nobody will think you sold out if you buy a new shirt for an interview."

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

Has anyone mentioned that Ridley Scott is planning to make a film of Joe Haldeman's Forever War?

Even having not seen the movie in question, those ARE fighting words!

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Has anyone mentioned that Ridley Scott is planning to make a film of Joe Haldeman's Forever War?

I had heard that, don't recall if we talked about it in here. It can't be as bad as Robot Jox, can it? There are rumors it will be in 3-D.

Seriously. Helen Mirren's talent and career crush Bill Nighy like a grape.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I just came back from State of Play. This is an entertaining movie that had my attention the whole time. I don't think this is a great movie, however. I never did see the BBC miniseries, but I found certain plot elements to be predictable.

Russell Crowe is pretty awesome and certainly holds the movie up. Affleck just doesn't have the acting chops against Crowe. Robin Wright (I love her to death too) is really fabulous and Crowe brings out the best in her too.

This is very shallow, but Wright's hair extensions and Affleck's toupee/hairpieces were just so bad. The makeup department gets no awards for this movie. I could see the bumps in Wright's hair and there is a scene when Affleck's hair gets hit by a breeze and only the front 2 inches move. It is hilarious.

For those going to see the movie, there is newspaper porn at the end of the movie (before the final credits) that is really great. And I'm not a journalism junkie.

I've loved her ever since my brother took me to see O Lucky Man! when I was in high school (at a repertory theater, not when it was released). Talk about your formative experiences (I didn't end up seeing Clockwork Orange until I was in college, so that was also my formative Malcolm McDowell experience).

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Bill Nighy is wonderful in the original State of Play. I imagine Helen Mirren will also be wonderful.

But you concede that Helen is more wonderful, right?

Because...you know. She's Helen Mirren.
