Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

DH and I saw Alice in Wonderland last night, and it was very meh.

Well dang it. I can't say I was expecting anything more, but hope springs eternal and all that.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

From the limited research I've done, if you wanted to fault one single source for the Twilight Zone crash it would be the pyrotechnic guy who set off effects without checking where the chopper was. He was granted immunity in exchange for his testimony. But Landis did hire the children illegally, he told their parents they were safe, and he ignored crew who warned him that the stunt was dangerous.

Our wings are not tired.

Yeah, Laga, it was that culpability coupled with his behavior during the trial that put me over the edge.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Our copywriter loves The Cutting Edge, apparently [link]

The first line of the plot summary: “Can a rough and tumble hockey player and a snooty ice dancer find love and a gold medal at the same time?” If that doesn’t make you want to watch it, then we are very different people.

"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

I loved it when I saw it, but I'm kind of over it now. Although, whenever I see Sweeney or Kelly I still think "Toe pick."

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Due to my habit of popping in Netflix discs years after I ordered them without re-reading the descriptions to remind myself what they're about... I just watched the majority of Tom & Viv having no idea Willem Dafoe is T.S. Eliot. What a twist!

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Academy Penalizes Hurt Locker Producer Chartier. Scandalous!

[T]he Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences is penalizing The Hurt Locker producer Nicolas Chartier for violating Academy campaign standards by sending an email to his friends that promoted The Hurt Locker and dissed Avatar.

He got uninvited from the Oscars. OH SNAP.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Our Oscar poll had Avatar as the winner for best picture (and Cameron for best director), but you know, unscientific and aimed right at the masses.

Were the emails private emails? It says to his friends, so it's not like he was just spamming Academy members, or was it?

Compassionately intolerant

This certainly wouldn't be the first time...though I confess I can't think of an example at the moment...when hugely political or self-promoting messages were sent out in support of a particular film.

It seems that this fellow's greatest crime was injudicious use of the competition's name and NOT spending millions on 'for your consideration' campaigns.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.
