I've seen them both.
Memento would be more for my Film History class - a surprisingly large number of students chose it as a favourite movie - and Galaxy Quest would be for me. Decisions decisions.
My other two movies are The Player (for class) and Brazil (for me and for class).
Edit: I guess it might come down to whether it's the version of Galaxy Quest with the Thermian commentary track.

Fair point. I really like Memento too, but Galaxy Quest is such a happy place movie.

have you seen the version of "Memento" where they put everything together so the movie runs forward? It is on the boxed set (btw, I'm a serious Memento junkie) and I really dug that version. I couldn't believe the movie actually holds together forwards.

Oh my god, I would LOVE to see this. Not necessarily *in* Berlin (though that would be cool), but to finally see the original version. (Though I have to shamefully admit that I liker the Moroder version. What I'm a child of the 80s.)

I haven't. I'm very interested, but the 3-disc version costs five times the single-disc one, and I've already invested so much in this course, I just can't afford it at the moment.
I do want to talk about manipulation of time in the movies today though, so I really do need it.

I don't think I'm ever going to watch Memento, because Rio's quote about it being the same movie as Dude, Where's My Car? would be echoing in my mind throughout.

aw man. I tried to watch Memento back-to-front with the copy I own (which I would gladly trade for a copy of Galaxy Quest) but the scenes are not arranged in such a way as to facilitate this. No way am I shelling out for the three disc set.
