Throughout "The Bank Job" I was bouncing in my seat in the theater wondering where the fight scene(s) would be. I mean, where the fuck are the fight scenes? It takes too long to get there, IMO, but I liked the movie anyway!

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Saw the 2nd X-Files movie last night, and it was a great deal of fun. Like a really long, meaty episode. And lots of touches that make complete sense only to long-time fans. I loved that Mulder and Scully were so comfortable together even in a romantic relationship--laughing in bed, making bad jokes, Mulder-Scully pillow talk about toxicology results.
And Skinner! "He won't do anything crazy." And Scully turning to give him the perfect look of "How long have you known us?"
Wow, this review of Inglorious Basterds makes it sound like an incredible film. I might just have to see it, even though I usually find Tarantino films tiresomely self-indulgent.
That's funny Kathy, I just finished reading the one in the New Yorker which eviscerated the movie and Tarantino.
The comments I heard 4 months ago seemed to indicate this is a TERRIBLE movie. However, Bill Maher seemed to think it was really funny.
I think it will probably fall to whether you like Tarantino or not. A good friend of mine gave a review, and she loved it. Thought it was his best since Pulp Fiction. But she likes Tarantino.
I like Tarantino as well, but I preferred Planet Terror to Death Proof and haven't seen Jackie Brown.

Awesome!! That looks AMAZING.
But she likes Tarantino.
The company I work for was at Cannes this year, and 2 of my co-workers saw it there. One liked it but said there was much gore and yuk, and one hated it with a passion. The buzz at Cannes was that it was that it was terrible so YMMV.
