You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

I just got back from seeing District 9 and Moon back to back.

Wow. What a fantastic afternoon of movie watching, tommy. Two of the best movies of the year, and both two of the better movies of the last several years.

Always Anti-fascist!

I just watched RockNRolla, one of the coolest little lumps of cinematic WTF? I've ever seen...

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

re: District 9 and the gore: sure there was the scifi type, which, yeah, not so bad, although gross. What got me was the chewing on the nail and the falling out teeth and the chopping of appendages.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

What got me was the 'popcorn'.

Am I terribly late on getting on the "Chris Evans is hot" train? He did nothing for me in Fantastic Four, was intrigued by him in Sunshine, and I can't even recall what flipped the switch to WANT. But I just watched Push (wonderful character torture) and Street Kings (as Colin Farrel was to Minority Report) in quick succession. I want more.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

So they're ... doing a new take on the book/character? Or they're remaking the first outing?

I assume it would be a movie version of The Vampire Lestat, which was skipped the first time around. (I suppose they could also be planning a movie version of Tale of The Body Thief or Memnoch The Devil, but, er, NO. PLEASE GOD NO.)

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

(I suppose they could also be planning a movie version of Tale of The Body Thief or Memnoch The Devil, but, er, NO. PLEASE GOD NO.)

I concur. Wholeheartedly.

Actually, I suspect the rumor is complete bullshit. But speculation is so much more amusing.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Robert Shaw as Quint

Speaking of RDJ, we watched the commentary on Tropic Thunder (oh, hush) the other evening. The scene where the "Four Leaf" character was introduced, with Nick Nolte peeling an orange with his hand hooks, silhouetted against sunlight through slatted louvers, Stiller said, "And that's his Quint moment." RDJ, "Oh Quint. Absolutely."
