An acquaintance of mine was ranting on Facebook a few months ago about how Captain America was giant douche and whatnot. Myself and a couple others defended Cap, but she didn't understand the appeal.
I just got a message from her that she watched Cap 2 the other day, and now she gets it.
He's not douchey!
Maybe she was thinking of Chris Evans in Fantastic Four?
Now that was douchey.
Yeah, we couldn't understand how you could get douchey from either Cap 1 or Avengers. Thankfully, Cap 2 made her see the light.

I don't understand what's in Cap 2 that would change someone's mind. His character seems pretty consistent across his appearances.
But I, you know, people can be pretty shameful about "misgiagnosing" certain actors, Chris Evans in particular, with I-didn't-see-the-performance-so-it-can't-happen.
Is it because he was just a brilliant douche?
Having seen Snowpiercer (and with his Sunshine role in the back of my head) I'm going on record that Chris Evans is not a douche. Haven't seen either CAs but I liked him as Cap in Avengers.
Going back over her argument, it seems she was using "douche" as a general term for "someone's behavior/attitude that I don't like" rather than the more common definition of jerk/scumbag/sleezy. Based on what she was saying, the term she was actually going for was "self-righteous prick". Of course, I disagree with that assessment as well.
Did Chris do a bunch of fratty movies? I know the description matches Johnny Storm, but even the romcom I can remember him in he wasn't a self-righteous prick. I'm assuming these people didn't watch Push or Sunshine--what else was his rep riding on, if anything?
I have not seen that. Worth looking at?
