so I didn't care for Godzilla. and much of what I didn't care for would reveal too much of the plot.
Suffice it to say, I really dug the opening credits. Loved the first 10 minutes or so. Right after that, the movie went way the fuck downhill. I liked it a bit more than Beau who is a godzilla aficionado. Beau was deeply offended by the movie and felt it was disrespectful to the notion of godzilla.
I mention the above because godzilla purists might have a hard time with the movie. I am not a purist, but felt that the movie's main character is not who I wanted it to be. Further, the armed services were so stupid as to take me completely out of the movie. I wish they had written around the technological limitations of fighting monsters rather than show abject stupidity and lack of planning.
My stepson has been looking forward to this movie for literally half his life (he is a HUGE Godzilla fan) so I am hoping it will not disappoint him.
He's waiting until next week to see it , when his dad will fly to PA for his birthday.
From further back, if molestation is that common in the movie business maybe child-star freakouts make more sense than we think.
erika, that is a good and unsettling point.
From further back
From where?
eta:
That is a splendid line.
Magnificent, even.
I tinkered with it. Can I get partial credit? Call it a remake.
So I saw Belle last night: it's a based-on-fact biopic about a young biracial girl in the mid-1700s whose father was a British naval officer and who recognized her and had her raised by his family in a world of wealth and privilege. The cast is great, and although the pace of the story is a little slow, it's quite a feel-good movie about the slow legal steps that shut down the slave trade in the British empire.
Also, it has fabulous clothes.
I've been curious about Belle, it looks so beautiful.

I had that thought too, erika. Regardless of whether or not outright molestation is involved, the music and movie biz both have a bad track record of looking after the well-being of their performers.
I saw Godzilla and Only Lovers Left Alive last weekend. While I'm happy I shelled out to see both in the theaters (note: not a Godzilla purist), OLLA is the one I'll probably buy on DVD. I'm glad I saw Dead Man way back when, because it helped set expectations for the pacing in OLLA. SWINTON and Hiddleston were luminous. Amusingly enough, the previews before OLLA included RDJ, Scarlett Johanson, and Jeremy Renner. The whole thing was a parade of Marvel Actors on break.
New Guardians of the Galaxy trailer!! Oh man, I need this movie now. It looks like so much fun.
