What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I wonder if anyone was spoiled that it was going to happen this movie by pictures of the outfit being worn.

Yes. I read about this very thing. People totally caught it.

I was going to see the movie tonight but then something came up, so maybe I'll see it next weekend. Or wait for Netflix.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Yes, I don't even watch the Spiderman films, and I saw speculation on that for what feels like at least a year.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

We saw it today, and OMG I loved it! So so pretty. However the nurse at my appointment was a little concerned that my idea of relaxing and taking it easy was to go see a vampire movie.

This made me laugh and laugh.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I wanna see this--it sounds really interesting: ‘The Search for General Tso’, A Documentary About Americanized Chinese Food (link has a preview)

Laughing Squid sez:

Written and directed by Brooklyn-based filmmaker Ian Cheney, The Search for General Tso is a new documentary exploring the phenomenon of Chinese food in the US — particularly General Tso’s Chicken, often considered the most popular Chinese dish in the States.

Using this Americanized dish and its mysterious mastermind as a lens onto a larger story of immigration, adaptation, and innovation, the film follows a lighthearted journey, grounded in cultural and culinary history, through restaurants, Chinatowns, and the American imagination.

The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2014 and is currently making the festival circuit rounds.

I do know that General Tso's chicken was not created by General Tso.

Compassionately intolerant

I'm pretty sure chow mein was invented in San Francisco.

Now I'm interested in seeing this movie too!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Not only is Johnny Storm black (Michael Initial Jordan), but Papa Storm is too (Reg E Cathey). I wonder if Sue is the adopted one, or if it's a blended family? Either way, I like that Johnny's not.

That is a splendid line.

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

That is a splendid line.

Magnificent, even.

Just got back from Godzilla.

Short reaction: HAIL TO THE KING, BABY.

Slightly longer reaction: They got Godzilla right. The design is somewhat different, but the motion is good, and - you know how, in the Toho movies, like once a fight he'd pull a move that clearly said, "I'm the King, and you're not, asshole." He's got a couple of those here, and they use the classic end-of-movie bit.

That said, this is very much a post- Cloverfield movie, not in the found-footage sense, but how you know there's a Godzilla movie going on, but you're always in the viewpoint of one of the human characters. There's almost no time where the camera pulls back to kaiju-scale and just watches them whale on each other.

In summary, very good Godzilla, but I agree with the early reviews that said they were too stingy with the kaiju action.

ETA: I don't think any of this is really spoilery, but if a mod-ista could look at it, that'd be cool.
