Heh, Dana.
I saw Frozen this afternoon. It was cute, and kind of surprising for a Disney flick about princesses. For one thing, the most important relationship in the movie
is between the two sisters, not the romance.
In fact, if you
cut out the romance entirely, the plot would pretty much be the same.
Which I like.
I didn't love the talking snowman. But the reindeer was basically a big clumsy dog with antlers (kind of like Max from the Grinch), and I loved him.
It was also quite beautifully made: all the ice castles and everything were very cool. Recommended.
I would like to know if Kristen Bell did her own singing, though.
Per the credits, she did.
This article is cute.
"I didn't know how great a singer she was," her co-star, Tony winner Idina Menzel, told Yahoo Movies. "I quickly found out and need to constantly tell her because she doesn't tell anybody else! She's always playing it down."
"It was definitely a wonderful surprise hearing her voice [during auditions], not knowing that she had been classically trained," director Jennifer Lee said. "Also, she had such a warm, sweet voice. She was everything that we could've hoped for for Anna. I don't think there could be any other Anna but Kristen Bell."
And that's even before Obi-Wan shows up.
Heh, yes. In the days of "Ewan MacGregor must take his trousers off in every damn movie", no less.
Per the credits, she did.
Hah! And I had no idea she had all that training. Bully for her!
If I were in movies I would absolutely IMDB costars before meeting them in person. And anybody know IMDBs KB will know that she has done musicals. And they would also learn that Reefer Madness the Musical the Movie exists, which is never a bad thing to learn.

I've seen
Reefer Madness,
but I didn't know she could sing at
Frozen
level. Damn, girl.
I miss those days.
No kidding. I need to watch Velvet Goldmine on an actual screen, instead of in my head while I listen to the soundtrack. It's just hard to find the uninterrupted time alone for it.

Wasn't she also in the off-Broadway cast before they filmed the musical?
I was surprised at how adorable and funny I found the snowman to be - I was bracing myself to be grinding my teeth at him. But
"doing whatever cold things do in summer"
completely won me over.
