I don't get the sleipnir thing though.
I almost peed myself laughing at that! Um, the story is, Loki screwed around with the gods, getting them to bet a guy he couldn't build a thing in a certain amount of time. But he had a really strong fast horse named Svaðilfari, and so he was getting real close to winning, and the gods got mad and told Loki he better fix it so the guy loses, so Loki turned himself into a sexxay mare and distracted Svaðilfari... all night long, and by morning the stallion didn't give a shit about the bet anymore and so the builder lost. Then a few months later Mare!Loki gave birth to the eight-legged colt Sleipnir, who was the fastest and strongest horse there ever was, and he became Odin's steed.
Which, in the context of the Avengers universe, is hilarious.

(Damn you, Tumblr!)
I don't know why, but this struck me as incredibly funny: [link]
The Sleipnir jokes are great, too.
Clive Owen, Karl Urban, the guy he fought in the kitchen in one scene,
Celeborn!

Which reminds me: do I need to watch Iron Man 2?
do I need to watch Iron Man 2?
There are some individual scenes that are good, but they don’t add up to a whole great movie.
We went into the city today, saw a very interesting exhibition on various media. They had a sequence of video clips from maybe two dozen movies, all featuring the Wilhelm scream. Really quite neat. (A whole bunch of Star Wars and Indiana Jones, and in the middle of it all, Beauty and the Beast and Toy Story.)
Man, how gorgeous are these Avengers sculpts: [link] ?

I haven't seen one yet that wasn't amazing.
Watching Haywire with Will. So far this is dull and the problem is not the acting. I think my biggest problem is the pacing and the wired multiple flashback storytelling.
I feel that the first scene sapped any "whee! movie's starting!" momentum I might have had--it's a great fight scene, especially where a woman is involved.
I don't know if it was my Tatum issue or what, but I don't think it was doing anyone justice.
But the flashbacks didn't really bother me. In fact, I can't even remember them when I try and think about it.
One thing I will say for Carano above and beyond her obvious mad fighting skills--she runs really well. It's somehow bad-assed and efficient and gives me the sense that she could outlast her prey or her pursuers.
