Yeah, I'm gonna make three guesses as to what "race neutral" looks like, and the first two don't count.

ita !, that's what I meant by being serious -- that the poster was mocking the views of the other posters.
I somehow missed any descriptors about Ged's coloring the first time I read A Wizard of Earthsea.
Me too, until I bought a copy of the trilogy in England, and my DH ranted about the blue-eyed blond white Ged on the cover.
I remembered the invaders looked like that, and so presumably different from Ged, but I didn't bother to picture Ged as other than the word "Ged."
Now I try to really picture the characters, because of things like Hunger Games. If you don't see Rue and Thresh as "the dark, dark kind of skin", then you miss that the Capitol has put African-heritaged people to work on government plantations, which is another whole level of commentary.
The poster is serious about mocking, or serious about her words? I mean, either way, I don't think there's much chance she's not making fun. That's what I meant.
"Not serious" as in "it didn't really happen, I'm just mocking (or making fun, or satirizing)." Or, not really a mom who got all bent out of shape because a box of diapers had a picture of a black baby.

My husband is trying to convince me that Life of Brian is better than Holy Grail. Thoughts?
(Other than the obvious fact that he's wrong?)
Life of Brian does have better songs. But how can you compete with "Fetchez la vache?"
You can't expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you!
Life of Brian has a stronger narrative, and ending. That's about the only thing I'd put it down for winning.
It definitely has a better ending.
