Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Conan kinda falls apart in the third act, but JASON MOMOA.
DAT ASS.
SRSLY.
I like this better than the original movies, although a bit of Grace Jones would have been neat. It strikes me that Rachel Nichols has a pretty cool resume. She gets kick ass roles, for someone no one has heard of.
BTW, Cinemablend says not to see Conan in 3D, but to see Fright Night that way.
I'm watching the Friday the 13th re-whatever, and I'm so out of practice watching slasher flicks. I forget most everyone's going to buy it, whether I like them or not.
The one with Paddywhack? I saw that. Slasher films are not my beautiful cake, never have been.
They're not my thing. I find myself thinking "You're nice. I hope you live. Oops." "You're irritating. I hope you die. Oh, at least that worked out." And a lot of "Eww, that's how you killed him???"
But JPad was looking nice and fluffy there. And Righetti at his sister was a great match.
Finally saw Harry Potter. It was good and I liked it. But I don't think I've seen a few of the movies and it's been awhile since I read the book. However, it still held up with watching Deathly Hallows 1 a few weeks ago.
I saw the trailer for the new Mission Impossible movie again. I don't want to see it because I only liked the first one and right now I really don't like Tom Cruise. But it has Jeremy Renner (I had to look him up, but when I was watching the trailer it was - oh that guy! I like him) and Simon Pegg. Maybe I'll wait until it's on dvd and then just skip over the scenes that are mostly Tom Cruise.
Also I pretty much forgot about the Mission Impossible remakes. I started watching MI on Netflix and I thought to myself "why hasn't anyone remade this! It would be ...oh. yeah they did."
Other trailers -Batman (looks awesome) and Twilight. The last time we went there was one for Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots....Real Steel? I want to see that more than the new Mission Impossible.
Maybe I'll wait until it's on dvd and then just skip over the scenes that are mostly Tom Cruise.
I wish I could get that, but in the theater.
Went to the movies for Fright Night, took a look at the line and decided on One Day instead. (A wise choice, I think. Despite an almost empty cinema I had to deal with two apparently deaf elderly ladies that were determined to chatter through the movie and a woman who decided she needed to climb over me to get get to her desired seat rather than taking any of the dozens of other empty seats within 15 feet. If I'd seen a movie packed with kids you'd be hearing about my days' experiences on the evening news.) It's very good, and very sad.
Wow. Jezebel had some very not nice things to say about the movie, and I really didn't care enough to read the whole thing, which was very long.
The buzz is that Anne Hathaway has the worst British accent since Dick Van Dyke. True or False?
Your description definitely fits the book. Maybe I'll have to ignore the general critical disdain and see the movie.
