Oh, nice. I think Zeljko Ivanek was more of the mental image of Snow in my mind, but I think Donald Sutherland will bring a little more ambiguity to the character (not that I think there's anything good about Snow, but it could make it more interesting when he doesn't look so eeeeeevil).
Will and I saw Fast Five the other night as a date night and it was a lot of fun! Now Iv'e got the movies up at the top of my netflix queue.
Fun times!
Oddly, my brain went to one of the worst Sutherland movies of all time but he was great as the old man in Puppetmasters.
He was a shitty Watcher, though.
We saw
Thor
yesterday. I will admit, I didn't think I'd be that interested. But awww! All of the "modern day" scenes were utterly charming, and the guy playing Thor was perfect. He has a GREAT smile.
(I didn't think I'd be interested in the movie because I am not a Marvel fan. I have only the vaguest knowledge of canon. I have been known to spend many superhero movies thinking
"Hmmmph. Okay, I guess, but you're no Batman."
)
I'm pleased with the casting of President Snow. I'm with Laga.
I pictured someone a little smoother, a little tighter and more polished, and Sutherland is sort of a jowly old dog. But I love the casting anyway, because I think he can play Snow's creepy evil really well.
Amy,
yeah, Laura Palmer's father probably would have been a good choice, but I like Sutherland too.
Oh yeah, I forgot all about him.
Ian Richardson would have been good.
